It is very heartwarming to hear of people who have gone abroad but know how to look back at their hometowns and still actively participate in the town's civic, cultural and socio-economic activities.
This is what Compostela, Cebu International is all about. Organized in 1998 by Nestor Balila, the group, composed of people who originally came from Compostela, Cebu but are now residing in Los Angeles, California, focuses on coming up with projects aimed at developing their municipality.
The organization, which is now headed by president Danilo Mendoza with Ramon Danggoy as vice president, has implemented various programs in Compostela such as providing a deep well pump for the Canamucan Day Care Center. It has also extended financial assistance to provide more deep well pumps for other areas in the municipality. The CCI is also planning to implement more health programs for the people.
Indeed, the hearts of the members of the CCI still belong to Compostela despite being miles away from it.
