CAI and beyond: Hagit sa kamatuoran at SM Art Center
July 23, 2005 | 12:00am
For the past few years now, the Cebuano public has witnessed a variety of art exhibits organized by artists and individuals, who boldly exposed their works in different galleries in the city.
Although these continuing art activities have contributed to the fast development of art awareness and appreciation among Cebuanos, there is still so much to be done to offer viewers a deeper sense of understanding on the purpose and reasons for the creation of such artworks.
As its contribution to the artistic development of Cebu, the Cebu Artists Incorporated will be coming up with an exhibit entitled, "CAI And Beyond: HAGIT SA KAMATUORAN" on July 22, at six in the evening at the SM Art Center Cebu. The exhibit is also in celebration of the group's 10th Founding Anniversary.
The exhibit, which is part of the group's continuing commitment to help promote and elevate Cebu's art and culture, provides the public a venue to enhance their art appreciation by encouraging them to interact with the exhibiting artists. It also initiates a close linkage with private companies and art loving individuals in the hope of developing massive information about the importance of art in society. The participating artists also hope that the exhibit encourages the public to appreciate not only the technical aspect of the painting but also the message behind the artist's expression.
CAI And Beyond: HAGIT SA KAMATUORAN is a challenge for the participating artists to inject meaning into their work and go deeper and beyond the comfort of painting only the essence of beauty. The CAI members who will be joining the exhibit are Vidal Alcoseba Jr., Mimit Carredo, Tito Cuevas Jr., Benji Goyha, Adeste Deguilmo, Jun Impas, Celso Duazo Pepito, Ritchie Quijano, Dong Secuya, Fe Madrid Pepito, Lurline Rodriguez and Sonia Yrastorza.
Invited guests of honor for the exhibit are Ms. Zelia Borromeo, Ms. Marilyn Go, Ms. Josie Lim, Hon. Peter John Calderon, Hon. Luigi Quisumbing and Mr. Devin Go.
CAI And Beyond: HAGIT SA KAMATUORAN is supported by SM Art Center, the Commonwealth Estate Inc., Print Ideas, Went Boutique and some friends of the group.
The exhibit runs until August 5, 2005.
