CEBU, Philippines — The viral singing duo sensation Sweetnotes captivated the IEC Convention Center crowd on March 10 with their dynamic vocals, strong stage presence, and an engaging setlist of covers during the “Melodies and Beats of Hope” benefit concert by Daughters of Saint Teresa (DST).

During their 90-minute set, the married Bactong couple from General Santos City consisting of Charlotte Mae and Jeffrey delighted the audience with a selection of covers, including Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” NewSong’s “When God Made You,” and Linda Ronstadt’s “Don’t Know Much”, to name a few.

Towards the end of the show, many audience members gathered in front of the stage to sing along as Sweetnotes performed The Corrs’ “Breathless,” ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” a Taylor Swift medley featuring “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me,” and VST & Company’s “Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko.”

The duo also impressed the crowd with their faithful rendition of “Angel,” with Jeffrey delivering a near-perfect imitation of Shaggy’s unique reggae voice.

In a brief backstage interview before their performance, Charlotte and Jeffrey expressed their appreciation for their Cebuano fans.

“We feel at home here in Cebu,” Jeffrey said in Bisaya. “Even if we keep coming back, we still receive so much support.”

DST Singing Sisters, Jan Francis Alinsonorin and The Jamn take the stage at the "Melodies and Beats of Hope" concert before Sweetnotes took the stage.

They also shared their gratitude for being part of the benefit concert, which celebrated the congregation’s 65th anniversary and commemorated the 111th birthday of its founder, Venerable Teofilo Camomot.

“We’re so thankful that people came to see us, even if they spent money. It’s for a good cause, and we hope they enjoy our performance,” Charlotte said.

Other performers included Karaoke World Championship Philippines 2024 winner Jan Francis Alinsonorin, Rev. Fr. Jonas Mejares, and The Jamn.

But the crowd was especially enthralled by the DST Singing Sisters, who impressed with their own covers as the event’s singing nuns.

With 1,248 attendees, according to a concert organizer, most of the venue’s seats were filled before Sweetnotes took the stage — marking the event as a success.

All event proceeds will support the construction of the Teofilo B. Camomot Center of Spirituality in Carcar City. Once completed, the center will provide accommodations for pilgrims staying overnight and serve as a venue for small-scale events such as conferences and catechism sessions.
