‘Voltes V: Legacy’ on its road to epic finale
CEBU, Philippines — The final battle for liberation is here! And the whole nation is ready to volt-in for one last time as “Voltes V: Legacy” nears its ultra electro magnetic finale this Friday, September 8.
Voltes V and Solar Bird join forces against the Boazanians and beast fighters. But it will not be an easy fight for Steve Armstrong, Jamie Robinson, Mark Gordon, Little Jon Armstrong, and Big Bert Armstrong. How can the five heroes defeat the God of War and save the planet Earth
As the series nears its ending, Miguel Tanfelix could not help but feel mixed emotions. “Lahat ng pinagdaanan namin sa loob ng four years, nag-flashback sa’kin nung sinabing it’s a wrap. Nag-start kami sa lock-in, may quarantine pa, ang daming ginastos para maitawid ang taping during the pandemic. And now, nag-end na ang isang malaking chapter ng buhay ko. Nakakalungkot, but excited ako na makita nila ang bigger picture ng pinaghirapan namin,” he said.
Ysabel Ortega highlights how this live-action adaptation has brought Pinoy pride. According to her, “Most of the time when there’s a project, iisipin ko na maganda at malaking step siya para sa career ko. Pero itong ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ masasabi ko na para siya sa buong Pilipinas. Milestone siya for everyone. Buong GMA, very hands-on sa project na ito. That’s why I feel honored, grateful, and proud.”
Radson Flores reminisces the good times they shared during and after tapings. “Sa set, pinaka-favorite ko ‘yung little things na ginagawa namin para sa isa’t isa. Sabay-sabay kaming kakain. Then kapag sa costume may mali, lalapit si Miguel aayusin niya or ako kay Matt, aayusin ko props niya. Sa labas ng set naman, mami-miss ko mga spontaneous outing namin. Nase-sepanx talaga kaming lahat,” he mentioned.
Asked about the most challenging scenes he had in the series, Raphael Landicho shares, “Yung nakikipag-away kami sa beast fighters. Ang hirap mag-imagine na kunyari nasasaktan o nakukuryente kami. Memorable din ‘yung pagbuo ko kay Octo-1. And of course, ‘yung eksena na nakasakay ako sa dolphin. First time ko na humawak at magpakain ng dolphin. Natakot talaga ako noon pero nagawa ko naman at nag-enjoy ako.”
Matt Lozano reiterates that “Voltes V: Legacy” has overcome several struggles throughout the show. According to him, “Hindi ko naman akalain na mapapasama ako sa isang iconic anime na pinapanood ko lang noong bata ako. Sobrang proud ako to be part of this big project at lalong nakaka-proud kasi sobrang hirap ng pinagdaanan namin sa set, sa struggles ng kanya-kanyang characters. Proud kami kasi from day one up to the last taping day, lumaban kami.”
Director Mark Reyes recalls the greatest achievement of their adaptation. “We’re happy with what we’ve accomplished. Nothing is perfect — we could have improved on a lot of things and added more things to the story, but we have limited time already. But for the bigger picture, it’s overwhelming that not only in the Philippines but also globally ang reactions. It’s very touching. That’s the biggest achievement. We said hello, world! GMA can do something like this and we’re proud of what we’ve done.”
“Voltes V: Legacy” producer and GMA Assistant Vice President for Drama Helen Rose S. Sese extends her gratitude to the whole team behind this successful series. “We’ve poured so much into this project and we’re very proud of what we accomplished. Kudos to the cast and everyone behind ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ for their hard work and dedication, for tirelessly contributing more than three years of their time, passion, and love for this project.
