STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

What makes a new song captivating and memorable that when people hear it for the first time, they want to listen to the song over and over?

In the case of “Home At Last,” the song combines a perfect balance of four elements which catch people’s ears and get them hooked to it. The lyrics of “Home At Last” evoke feelings of longing, excitement and joy – universal sentiments anyone can relate to.

The melody provides the right vehicle to take the listener through the peaks and valleys of the song’s sentimental journey. The arrangement flawlessly weaves the lyrics and melody into a tapestry of pure listening pleasure. And the singer’s powerful performance will make anyone feel blessed to be at home spending time with their beloved.

Produced by RJA Productions LLC, which is based in San Francisco, USA, “Home At Last” certainly creates a last song syndrome (LSS) effect for those who hear it. Once you listen to this beautiful song, you’ll definitely have it playing in your head over and over. Creating “Home At Last” is proof that when creative and talented people work together, the outcome is sure to be outstanding. The heartfelt lyrics were provided by Joseph Michael Torrijos, an aspiring artist and poet currently based in Singapore, who hopes to positively impact Filipino culture through tech, literature and art.

The lovely melody was furnished by Dean Mark Hilario Enoza, a multimedia artist and leader of learning based in Singapore, whose philosophy is that life should be lived with an outward, unselfish mind set, with love for God and others. Shardei Bueno, the song’s arranger, is a multi-instrumentalist player and music producer based in Manila, and is involved in music-related TV programs such as “A Song of Praise Music Festival” aired on UNTV 37 and on Wish 107.5’s talent search, “Wishcovery.”

The singer who interpreted the song with amazing intensity is Myko Mañago, a singing sensation from Cavite City. He is a three-time defending champion of It’s Showtime’s “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.” Gifted with a powerful singing voice, Myko started singing when he was a child. He cites R&B band South Border, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Sam Smith, and Michael Buble as his musical influences.

Myko is a talent of RJA Productions, who was discovered by the company through his YouTube videos that feature him singing pop and R&B music covers.

On the creation of “Home At Last,” Dean, who composed the melody for the song, shares, “Our singer, Myko, and music arranger, Shardei are based in the Philippines, Joseph and I are in Singapore, and our producer, Tita Rosabella is in the USA. I can say that it is somewhat magical too, to be able to create a song with collaborators from different parts of the world, which is one of the coolest parts of this experience. The one thing that I love most about this collaboration is the convergence of different gifts and wrapping them with love, dream, determination, hard work, and passion.” “Home At Last” is now available on all online music streaming sites worldwide.

Carmina Villarroel is very good in her role as Barbara in the new GMA series “Widow’s Web.” Yet it is not only her acting that bears watching but also her wardrobe as she plays a rich woman in the series directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.

The better half of Zoren Legaspi is also daring as Barbara has a male lover. They were supposed to have a love scene which didn’t happen because someone knocked at the door, stopping Carmina and her lover on their tracks.

Carmina said she is willing to do challenging roles, most especially the ones she had never done before. To be fair, the acting of the female cast of “Widow’s Web” is something the audience can look forward to because of all them are good and are given their time to shine.

But it is always a delight to watch Carmina when she’s a mean girl. Probably because she goes against type as we always knew her as a sweet little girl when she started her career as a child actress.
