Cindy Miranda: Daring scenes in ‘Nerisa’ necessary
Former beauty queen-turned-sexy star Cindy Miranda says she was surprised that her name was dragged in the separation of Kylie Padilla and Aljur Abrenica.
At the Zoom conference of her latest movie titled “Nerisa” for Viva Films that begins streaming today on Vivamax, Cindy said she did not know that the couple were having problems with their marriage. Besides, even before the issue broke out, she already finished filming “Nerisa” with Aljur.
“I didn’t have anything to do with their breakup. I am thankful to Aljur who came to my defense in his interviews and he even apologized to me because my name was dragged in the issue.”
Cindy said “Nerisa” is more physically taxing. It not only required her to do sexy scenes but she also had to do underwater scenes. She doesn’t know how to dive but she and Aljur underwent a rush training with Jess Lapid, Jr. who directed the parts shot underwater.
“Even if the scenes were hard and I was afraid to do them, I didn’t show it. I had to do everything that was asked of me because this is my solo film. We were shooting on a limited time and we had to contend with the changes in weather,” said Cindy.
Those who have seen the trailer of “Nerisa” are saying that her scenes are vulgar or “bastos” but Cindy hopes that before judging the film, these people will watch the movie first.
“Whatever sexy scenes we did in the film are needed in the story. If they will watch it, they will realize it is not vulgar but it has a good story as written by Ricky Lee. This is more than just a sexy movie and I hope they do watch the film so they can appreciate it.”
As Nerisa, she plays a very enigmatic character. Aljur as the fisherman Obet finds her in the middle of the sea and takes her home in their island to be his wife. Soon, bad things start happening in the island and she’s blamed to be the “salot” or plague who brings misfortune to the people.
“Mahirap ang naging journey ni Nerisa and I want to thank Direk Law Fajardo for guiding me. If those who will watch ‘Nerisa’ will say that I did well in my acting, I would like to give Direk Law credit for that.”
Cindy is very focused in her acting career and is thankful that Viva gambled on giving her a solo film.
“I gave my all in this film because I want to be known as a good actress,” she said.

We don’t know how many times Kuya Dick has won in the Star Awards but we are sure that he is happy with yet another nomination.
In a recent talk, we asked him how he feels whenever he gets nominated. “We are always thankful for the recognition. It is an honor to be recognized for the work that I do. A nomination serves as validation for good work. It feels good to know that you are being recognized for your talent as an actor,” said Kuya Dick.
He has finished the movie “Mudrasta,” directed by Julius Alfonso, for TREX Entertainment but a play date has yet to be announced. Maybe Mr. Rex Tiri, the owner of TREX Entertainment, is waiting for the reopening of cinemas before he decides to release “Mudrasta.”
We can’t be sure if he has plans of fielding the movie as entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival in December, especially if the movie will be shown via streaming if theaters are still closed.
It is hard to gamble in streaming since there is the danger of piracy, just like what happened to “Anak ng Macho Dancer.”
