Gilo, Lumapas steal show as ePerformax, Shearwater outclass rivals in E-Leagues

CEBU, Philippines — Robert Gilo and Lucien Paolo Lumapas shared the limelight anchored on their solid double-double performances as the ePerformax Reds and Shearwater Health Crusaders outlasted separate foes in the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Gilo dropped 22 points and hauled 18 rebounds laced with three assists and as many blocks to power the Reds to a 80-73 drubbing of the Fusion BPO Services Dragons in the Elite Classic.

Four others fired double figures, with Nolan De la Peña, Rafael Jose Cuico, Christian Maye Mejia and Patrick Anthony Ybañez combining for total of 47 points as the Reds notched their second win in five games.

Nino Belande returned from a two-game absence with  25 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals but his efforts went for naught as the Dragons fell to 2-3.

In the other Elite Classic battle, Earldred Cesar Montilla and Jan Michael Auditor connived for 45 points as the  Sykes Pioneers prolonged the agony of the winless Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs, 78-61.

Johneil Geraldizo chipped in 11 markers and Justine Laborte had 10 for the Pioneers, who earned a share of the second spot with the Teleperformance Vipers on identical 5-1 win-loss records.

Jaggy Vios finished with 18 points, while TJ Villacampa and Darryl Yap had 22 combined points for the Boomerangs, who further wallowed down the cellar with a pitiful 0-7 mark.

In the EVO League, Lumapas unloaded 24 points, 12 boards, three steals, and two blocks as the Crusaders vanquished the Optum Knights, 56-48.

Bryle Albert Ampong pitched in 10 points for the Crusaders, who snapped out of their two-game slump and tallied their first victory of the season.

Nicole John Sultan was the lone double-digit scorer with 11 point for the Knights, who tailspun to to 2-3.

On the other hand,  Ryan Lauro and Donald De Leon churned out 11 points each as the Author Solutions Philippines Inc. (ASPI) Hardbacks pounded the CTC-BPO Panthers, 60-44, to raise their win-loss mark to 3-1.

Brothers Mark Louise and Jan Pierre Gellez came up with 23 points total but to no avail at the Panthers suffered their second loss in three games. (FREEMAN)
