Cebu Centre for Dance stages ‘The Sleeping Beauty’
CEBU, Philippines - CCD’s “The Sleeping Beauty” is an abridged version that shows the significant twists and turns of the immortal love of different generations. The choreo-graphy is based on Marius Petipa for the Russian Imperial Ballet, with its music from the immortal masterpiece by Tschaikovsky.
Sabrina Bogart plays Princess Aurora, Megan Marie Chan and Giselle Abalos alternate as the Lilac Fairy, while Monica Villarica is Princess Florine in the Bluebird Pas de Deux. Guest artist Kristin Aldana Lerin alternates with Penelope Ong as the evil fairy Carabosse.
Playing King Florestan is Atty. Cesar Gariando opposite Dr. Charrie Herrera-Manlangit as the Queen. The Lords and Ladies include Dr. Philip Gilbuena, Tippi Smith, John Beltran, Dr. Bretta Lucion, Catherine Belleza, Dr. Ernz Uy, Cristina Olvido, Erwin Diaz, Yvette Dapat and Ian Irving Tan.
Guest artist Paul Jayson Austria plays the male lead as Prince Florimund. Isaiah Villamter, also a guest artist, alternates for the role of the male Bluebird with CCD’s Rufo Jeffrey Tapang.
This is CCD’s first “Sleeping Beauty.” Since their inception in 2012, CCD has made full-length ballets every December such as “Stardust” based on Neil Gaiman (original), “Into the Woods” (original), “The Wizard of Oz” (original) and last year’s “The Nutcracker” (classic).
Tickets are pegged at P400 for orchestra and the first row of the center aisle balcony, while the rest of the balcony seats are at P200. The show is free seating and on a first come, first served basis.
