Flamboyant Fil-Brit among strong contenders on ‘X Factor UK’

CEBU, Philippines – Turns out 4th Impact is not the only Filipino act among the remaining contestants of “The X Factor UK.”

Flamboyant performer Seann Miley Moore, who made it to the Live Shows stage of the competition in the Boys category, revealed in a recent interview with the show that his mother is a Filipina and this lineage may have also contributed to his love of music.

“My mum is Filipino and the Filipinos have their infamous love of karaoke so we used to do that a lot at home,” Seann shared.

“My main singing training, however, probably came from attending a theatre school over in Perth. It took me three years to get into the school as they only pick nine boys and nine girls but when I finally got in, I spent three years studying acting, singing, dancing and just furthering my skills as a performer.”

As much as he loved the performing arts, Seann said he had to give it up because of his stronger desire to audition for “The X Factor.” Even though he grew up in Sydney, Australia, his father is a British banker so he said that “heritage aspect” also added in his desire to join “X Factor UK” instead of “X Factor Australia.”

So far, Seann is considered one of the most exciting performers in the competition. Like his flashy outfits that drew comparisons to Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and the late Freddie Mercury, Seann’s choice of songs also tends to lean on the eclectic side.

After an impressive audition with Queen’s “The Show Must Go On,” Seann went on to advance with memorable performances of The Eagles’ “Hotel California,” Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work” and in the first of several Live shows this Sunday, David Bowie’s glam rock classic “Life on Mars.”

Judge Rita Ora called Seann an artist and a visionary. “You hit them notes like boom boom boom! So congratulations, thank you for your individuality,” she added.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini expressed a similar view. “You’re so thespian, but in a beautiful way, not theatrical at all. That was outstanding, absolutely stunning,” she quipped.

The usually hard-to-please Simon Cowell was likewise complimentary. “I think you are so special, so individual, you don’t care, and I love contestants like you. I think Britain’s taken you to their heart, the competition wouldn’t be the same without you. I thought it was outstandingly good.”

Nick Grimshaw, who mentors the Boys category that consists of Seann, Mason Noise and Che Chesterman, called the “Life On Mars” number a “great performance (by) a great performer.”

“I think you’re a dream to work with, you really are, because you have such a vision, such an identity,” Grimshaw further quipped.

With such superlatives, Seann was not only safe for the week that saw the elimination of Bupsi and Alien Uncovered. Like 4th Impact, he is now regarded as one of the formidable contestants in the whole competition.

Kitty Brucknell of the Daily Mirror called Seann “most incredible” and “the biggest contender to win this entire show.” – InterAksyon.com
