CEBU, Philippines – With still a good two months to go before the annual Metro Manila Film Festival, at least three official entries have started releasing teasers and trailers.

So far, there are teasers and an initial trailer of the action thriller “Nilalang” headlined by Cesar Montano and Japanese actress Maria Ozawa. Last Saturday’s “Tamang Panahon” special of “Eat Bulaga” also unleashed a teaser trailer of “My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More” starring Vic Sotto, Ai-Ai delas Alas and the AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

Recently, a teaser for the romantic comedy “Walang Forever” starring Jennylyn Mercado and Jericho Rosales went viral after it was posted on Jennylyn’s official Facebook page last October 16. To date, the teaser has accumulated over three million views on Facebook, 55,000 plus likes and over 37,000 shares.

The one-minute-34-second trailer does not yet reveal the plot for the film but is basically, your typical man-on-the-street montage of people (including Cebuano actor Matt Daclan) answering the question, “Naniniwala ka ba sa forever?” with a bespectacled and highly optimistic Jennylyn answering in the affirmative.

In walks Jericho, who does not share Jennylyn’s enthusiasm and insists that no, there is no forever. The two continue bickering until the end of the video.

Given that “Walang Forever” is from the same creative team that brought last year’s MMFF sleeper hit “English Only, Please” including director Dan Villegas and writer Antoinette Jadaone, expectations are naturally high for the film to duplicate the success of its predecessor.

But it seems that Villegas and Jadaone have proven that the box office success of “English Only, Please” is no fluke as the subsequent theatrical screenings of Jadaone’s “That Thing Called Tadhana” and “You’re My Boss” as well as Villegas’ “The Breakup Playlist” have all grossed over P100 million (P200 million plus in the case of  “You’re My Boss”).

As a result, the real-life couple has also been largely responsible for the glut of romantic comedies that have been favored by the moviegoing public as of late.

Jennylyn has also proven to be quite the box office draw as she starred in Jun Lana’s “The PreNup,” another blockbuster romantic comedy that grossed over P20 million on its opening weekend this month.

With “Walang Forever,” audiences are also curious about the chemistry between Jennylyn and Jericho, who replaced the film’s original leading man, JM de Guzman. — InterAksyon.com
