Highway 54: A musical road trip to Radisson Blu

CEBU, Philippines – Highway 54, one of Metro Manila’s top show bands, carries more than 70 years of musical prowess and entertainment. From the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today’s Billboard chart toppers, Highway 54 can do it all. With original musical arrangements, they are a standout among the rest in the band circuit.

Eight skilled, multi-faceted, and experienced professional musicians comprise the band. In the vocal section, JR Dimen, vocal arranger, songwriter, guitarist, percussionist, and former vocalist of groups like Channels, Ilustra and Flintstones, is joined by his brother, Paul Dimen, Jaramie Zuniga, and Queenie Agustin. Paul is a former soloist for Manila Maze, A-Track, Decada, and The Road. Jaramie, the smooth songstress, was a lead soloist for the New Minstrels, Clique, Metropolis, and Crosswaves, to name a few, and was also a recording star during her younger days. Queenie Agustin, the soulful belter, was also the lead vocalist of famous bands Cicada, X’s, Big Thing, and Circus Band.

The rhythm section is likewise seasoned. Jericho “Jek-jek” Cruz is a sessionist having worked with a lot of popular artists. He was also the keyboard player for Ilustra. On drums is Elideo “Toto” Casacop of Manila Maze, Roots, Puzzles, and Human Race. On lead and rhythm guitar is Danny Reyes, a former member of Manila Maze and Human Race. On bass guitar is the newest member of the group, Bong Gonzales, who played for bands like Heatwave and Ultrashock.  He has also played abroad in the US, Jakarta, China, and Japan, to name a few.
