CEBU, Philippines – SM City Cebu and SM City Consolacion, with the special participation of the Resources for the Blinds in Cebu will hold a special screening of the action film “Taken 2” come November 12 and 26 at SM Cinemas.

In SM City Cebu, the free movie showing of “Taken 2” for the visually and hearing impaired will begin at 10 a.m. in SM Cinema 5, and November 26 in SM City Consolacion cinema.

“Taken 2” is a 2012 English-language action thriller film directed by Olivier Megaton which stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Leland Orser, Jon Gries, D.B. Sweeney, Luke Grimes, and Rade Šerbedžija.

Although commercially shown in the past, the Hollywood film is also equipped with special features so that the visually and hearing impaired can still enjoy the movie. These special features include an audio description and closed captioning to enable the visually impaired moviegoers to listen to the dialogue. A closed captioning also transcribes the audio portion of the program to enable the hearing impaired to see and read the printed words on the screen. The narrated descriptions were added between screen dialogues to add flavor and context to the story without disturbing the original flow of the script.

Bien Mateo, Program Director of Disability Affairs of SM Cares and SM Supermalls VP for North Luzon said the event is also supported by various People with Disability (PWD) Organizations including: AKAP Pinoy, Philippine Blind Union, National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRD).
