Momentous first for 22 Tango Records

CEBU, Philippines - A local independent record label celebrated a momentous first in its history last month, as it presents the launch of its first compilation album through a series of live performances.

Dubbed the “Folk City: The Album Launch Series”, the talents featured in 22 Tango Records’ flagship compilation album – “Folk City: The Various Artists Compilation Album” – performed live renditions of their songs last July 9, 16, 23 and 30 at the 4th level garden area of the Ayala Center Cebu’s new expansion.

Founded in 2001, 22 Tango Records, continues to be one of the local music scene’s versatile and active players – keen on causing progressive shifts in the production and release of albums and/or singles.

With singer-songwriters Cattski “Mother Folker” Espina, Ella Mendez, Martina San Diego, Mary Anchit, Jessica McYorker and bands Womb, Luxxx, The Wonggoys and more a part of its roster of talents, the label has earned a solid following in the release of inspiring songs that reflect the everyday stories of everyday life; complete with all its engaging twists and poetic turns – as told through inflections and vocalizations that are distinctly, to sum up in one word, Cebu.
