Folk City on Magic 92.3

CEBU, Philippines - Homegrown artists are set to perform the entire month of June on air on Magic 92.3, as part of the promotional series for Cebu indie-label, 22 Tango Records’ Folk City Various Artists Compilation Album.

The Folk City artists will be playing live acoustic sessions every Wednesday night from 10 p.m.–12 midnight on Magic’s Happy Ending show hosted by Tom Candy. The sessions will showcase original tracks that will be featured in the Folk City Various Artists Album Compilation. Performing artists include Ella Melendez, Wonggoys, Mary Anchit, Jessica McYorker, Snübear and Cattski.

The upcoming album is a product of Cebu indie-label, 22 Tango Records’ pop-up events titled, “Folk City,” which toured around Cebu City the past couple of years. The Folk City events aimed to gather local artists and give them a venue to play their original compositions. It doesn’t stop locally though, as the record label has gathered international artists to be a part of the album. The Folk City album will feature 13 artists, half of which are signed under 22 Tango Records, and the other half from guest artists from Cebu as well as the US, Australia and Singapore.

The release date for the Folk City Album is targeted to be July 2014. The album will be made available at Bo’s Coffee and District 32, the collective community of commercial outlets found at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. It will also be available online through iTunes, Amazon and 22 Tango Records’ online store.
