Jackie Rice’s meaningful birthday celebration

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

This is a belated review of Gary Valenciano’s recent concert titled Gary V: Arise 3.0 which is a celebration of Mr. Pure Energy’s 30th anniversary concert held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It was the best Gary V concert ever that we have watched in his 30 years in the business. It was an awesome experience that can’t be repeated. Of course, we heard that there is clamor for a repeat but we still have to be informed if Gary V’s schedule has room. It was one concert that deserves to be viewed again for sheer entertainment value and uplifting messages.

Gary V was in his best element. The concert had an excellent repertoire. It was a trip down memory lane and we admit that there were times we couldn’t help but be nostalgic. We have been following Gary V’s career since the start and for every song, there were memories passing by through the 30 years that he had made his audience happy with his songs.

It was a pleasant viewing experience. It was amazing how they were able to capture all of 30 years in a two-hour show. But they did. It was a musical and visual delight. There were awesome videos and spectacular lighting effects. The lighting effects were so good and really complemented Gary’s awesome performance.

Congratulations to Paolo Valenciano, the co-director of Gary V: Arise 3.0. He really impressed us with how the concert turned out. The repertoire was well thought out but we were astounded by the lighting effects which registered very well on the pictures that were taken during the concert and were posted on Facebook.

A Gary V concert won’t be a Gary V concert if the audience won’t get up on their feet and dance! The audience did dance with him in several numbers, especially with his hit songs. But they also liked his teleserye theme songs medley as well as his earlier hits like “Hang On,” “Reaching Out” and “Di Na Natuto.” They also liked “Warrior is A Child,” “Sana Maulit Muli” and “Take Me Out of the Dark.”

Gary V is truly a one of a kind performer. No one comes close. He is truly Mr. Pure Energy and more!

Turning 24 this April 27, GMA Artist Center talent and Starstruck 3 Ultimate Female Survivor Jackie Rice had an early birthday celebration last April 11 with the children of the Philippine Orthopedic Center (POC).

Upon visiting the children at POC, Jackie shared her blessings by giving food and gifts. She also shared that POC has a special place in her heart, “First time ko na mag-celebrate dito sa POC at sobrang sarap ng feeling na mai-share ang mga blessings na natatanggap ko. Iba pa din talaga ang pakiramdam na makapagbigay ka ng ngiti sa mga tao.”

As for her birthday wish, “I’m very contented with my career. Currently, I have ‘Innamorata’ and ‘Bubble Gang’ so sana tuluy-tuloy lang talaga ang trabaho at blessings,” she added.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon series “Innamorata,” Alejandra (Gwen Zamora) will be able to lock Esper (Max Collins) in the portrait through the power of the necklace. As Alejandra tries to keep the portrait hidden, Edwin (Luis Alandy) and Dencio (Dion Ignacio) persistently look for Esper. Will they be able to find Esper? Can Alejandra successfully win the heart of Edwin?

“Innamorata” airs weekdays after “Villa Quintana” in the Afternoon Prime block of GMA. Jackie also got herself a good role in the indie film “Sitio Camcam,” directed by Joel Lamangan, where she plays one of the three wives of Allen Dizon. The movie is produced by Heaven’s Best Productions.
