YouTube sensation ‘Elevator Girl’ comes to SM City Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Don’t be surprised to see Cheridel, known as the Elevator Girl, in one of the elevators of SM City Cebu this Sinulog weekend.
Everyone’s favorite elevator girl, Cheridel Alejandrino, became an instant celebrity when a video of her by two customers in SM City Olongapo was uploaded in Youtube. She was on her regular routine, pushing buttons and making people laugh while inside the elevator of SM City Olongapo. She also memorized all stores in the mall. In less than a week, the video went viral after inspiring and eliciting laughter among internet users. It has over 800,000 views making the elevator girl a Youtube sensation.
In July 2012, her agency assigned her as a break-time reliever of the restroom and elevator attendants at SM City Olongapo. She’s also assigned to deliver memos from the SM Olongapo Administration Office to mall tenants. Soon she became a day-off reliever of the elevator attendants.
Customers began asking her to sing, some give her gifts, while others refuse to leave the elevator.
Cheridel has appeared in “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho,†“Unang Hiritâ€, “Umagang Kay Gandaâ€, “Kape at Balitaâ€, and even on international television. Recently, Rappler chose the Elevator Girl as the Best Pinoy Viral Video of the Year. Her story was also featured in ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya†last year with Meryll Soriano as Cheridel.
Today, she is already a full-time elevator girl in SM City Olongapo.
