Marian Rivera relishes working with Star Cinema

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera is very vocal in saying that she had a good time working with Star Cinema for the film project titled “Kung Fu Divas” where she co-stars with Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas.

“It feels great to be given a chance to work with Star Cinema. It feels as if there is no wall separating GMA-7 and ABS-CBN even if they are rival networks. Ang saya nang pakiramdam na naranasan ko kung paano magmahal ang mga taga ABS-CBN,” said the actress who just renewed her contract with GMA -7.

Marian invested her talent fee for “Kung Fu Divas” as she is also one of the producers. She even added a little more, although she acknowledges that Ai-Ai, who is also a co-producer, has the bigger talent fee compared to her. She is praying that the movie makes money so that she and Ai-Ai can recoup their investment and hopefully venture once more in film producing in the future.

Her relationship with Dingdong Dantes is doing great that is why Marian is often asked regarding their plans to settle down and have their own family. “Of course, every woman is asked that question and each woman gets to the point where she thinks of settling down. We are talking about it although there are no concrete plans yet but we will surely let our fans know if ever Dong and I decide to get married. We won’t keep it from them,” she said.

Isabelle Daza launched her perfume line with Bench last week at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon with her mom Gloria Diaz, the first Filipina to win the Miss Universe title, supporting her daughter. In the post event interview, Isabelle said it took them a year to come out with her perfume brand which she named Univers and Ritual.

“We tested several scents and approached people to try it out. It was kind of a difficult process since some of the people didn’t like the scents. When we finally found the scent that I wanted, I had to think of a concept for it. I chose Univers because I want it to be universal and which can be good for both men and women. I named the other one Ritual because putting perfume is like a ritual,” she explains.

“I also want something that has some connection with my mom so I chose to name it Univers,” she added. She also thanked Ben Chan of Bench who started her out as a model when he got Isabelle to be the endorser of Human (one of the clothing lines also associated with Ben Chan’s company). “I didn’t want to be a model but he got me to be the face of Human. That was how I started my career,” she recalled.

Isabelle got good reviews for her debut film “Lihis” where she held her own opposite her mom who played her mother in the movie directed by Joel Lamangan and which starred fellow Bench endorser Lovi Poe. “I am still new in acting and I know I still have a lot to learn as an actress. I am more comfortable as a TV host and being in ‘Eat Bulaga.’ But if the press people say I did well, I guess I have to believe you guys.  I know the press can be generous with their compliment but if you are not good, sasabihin din naman iyan ng press. But I know I still need to improve my acting skills.”

Voices of Five recently launched their self-titled debut album last September 21 at Area 05 of Tomas Morato in Quezon City. The group recently released their first single titled “Pagka’t Mahal Kita,” a composition by respected composer Vehnee Saturno. “Pagka’t Mahal Kita” is the carrier single of the album. Also included in the compilation are four other original songs (Dapat Pa Ba written by Daryl Ong; Shower You With Love written by Drey Reyes; Panaginip Na Lang written by Karl Gaurano and their second carrier single Parang Langit written by Teddy Katigbak) and two cover versions (On Bended Knee by Boyz 2 Men and Mahal Pa Rin Kita by Rockstar).

All songs were produced and arranged by Teddy Katigbak, the manager of Voices of 5. Most of the songs reflect the real life stories of the composers. Hence, the album mirrors the character of each member of Voices of 5. They put it in one album, delivered it through each member’s distinctive vocal styling and made it into one.

Voices of 5 is a vocal group composed of Daryl Ong, Drey Reyes, Sol Glass, Johann Mendoza and Wes Zerrudo. Each member came from different high profile bands namely Version4, Akafellas, South Border, K24/7 and Freshmen and has their own unique vocal expertise. Since their formation in October 2012, the group’s performances, songs and YouTube videos have been well-received by the Filipino audience.

Organizers of the launch were Quad East Studio plus the group’s recording label and management team.
