Cebu Pop 2014 bares12 finalists
CEBU, Philippines - Out of 138 entries for next year’s Cebu Popular Music Festival, four compositions for each category were selected by a screening panel last Friday, Sept. 20, at the University of the Visayas Alumni Office.
Finalists for the Upbeat/Dance Music category are: I Love Cebu (composer: Russel Alegado), Lakat Panginabuhi (composer: Bienvenido Racho), Huning Sugboanon (composer: Manolito Languido) and Ceboom (composer: Dennis Martin).
For the Ballad/Pop Ballad: Ayaw Ako’g Biyai (composer: Jerald Decem Castro), Hagawhaw (composer: Rene Campomanes), Damgohon Ko Na Lang (composer: Archie Lesiguez) and Hain Na Ang Saad Mo? (composer: Ogie Melgar).
Folk/Country/Novelty finalists are: Limpya Botas (composers: Franklin Padayogdog, Carlito Betito and Roy Tabasa), Baha (composer: Emmanuel Abellana), Sakay Na Kamo (composer: Arman Mahinay) and Laylay sa Bukid (composers: Ronil Vincent Watin and Yoogin Raye Anthony).
The 34th Cebu Pop Music Festival screening panel was made up of Irving Guazon, Elvis Somosot, Britz Briones, Roy Caballero, Maria Donna, Girlie Laspiñas, Baby Condeno, Chline Diagon and Sam Costanilla. Present during the whole day screening were Cebu Pop executive director Joseph "Dodong" Baduel, Didi and Ann Gullas and Pat Acabodillo.
