Spreading the magic

Vanessa Balbuena - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The radio station Cebuanos have come to know as Killer Bee 92.3 for the past 20 years is now Magic 92.3 – Today’s Best Music. This big switch began last April 29 and was unveiled to the media the day after that at Formo of Banilad Town Center.

There are eight Magic stations all over the country under Quest Broadcasting Inc., and the new name was based on the mother network to make all the radio affiliates’ station names uniform.

With the goal to better serve its listeners, they also changed some of their on-air campaign and imaging, and will introduce a more aggressive approach in terms of parties and events (especially campus-based and student-targeted) to ensure their continued market domination among the 13-21 and 21-30 age brackets.

“Aside from the name of the station and some of its shows and programs, nothing has changed. We still have the same target market, coverage and contemporary hit radio format. We are confident that this change will better serve the interests of our listeners. Please take your time to tune in to us as we spread the magic. You will love what you’ll hear,” said Magic 92.3’s station manager Jossein Delfinado.

Magic 92.3’s programs include Breakfast Club, On Demand, The Big Meal, The Pop Stop, Boys Night Out, Happy Ending, At 40 Ryan Seacrest, Magic Friday Madness, Slamma Jamma, All Day Request, Local Vocal and Nothing Noisy.

The popular trio of Boys Night Out — Slick Rick, Sam YG and Tony Toni – is set to visit Cebu next month, so fans should tune in for a chance to win tickets to this event.
