Kapatid stars Nora Aunor, Cesar Montano win big at MMFF 2012
CEBU, Philippines - Kapatid stars Nora Aunor and Cesar Montano received major acting recognitions during the awarding ceremony of the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last December 27 at the Meralco Theater. The Superstar was hailed Best Actress for Thy Womb while Montano bagged the Best Supporting Actor for El Presidente.
Aunor’s latest acting trophy is her eighth Best Actress award at the MMFF, while Montano’s is the actor's fifth from the Festival. In her acceptance speech, the Superstar shared that her passion for acting in quality films remains firm, “Kahit lima na lang manonood ng pelikula ko, patuloy pa rin akong gagawa ng makabuluhang pelikula.”
Earlier this year, the film directed by Cannes-winning director Brillante Mendoza made the rounds of film festivals worldwide. At the Venice Film Festival where Aunor also clinched a Best Actress nomination, the Superstar won the Bisato d'Oro Award from the Premio Della Critica Indipendiente, a jury of independent film critics in Italy. Aunor also won Best Actress at the 2012 Asia Pacific Screen Awards held in Brisbane, Australia last November. She also received an acting nomination from the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival in Macau this December.
The two Festival winners will join the powerhouse cast of TV5’s coming primetime series “Never Say Goodbye” with Artista Academy winners Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert, Alice Dixson and Gardo Versoza, among others. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque mountainous land of Benguet, the series is considered as TV5’s biggest drama series for the first quarter of 2013.
In their upcoming Kapatid series, Superstar Nora Aunor will play the character of Martha, the love interest of Javier (Cesar Montano) and Dindo (Gardo Versoza). (FREEMAN)
