Dingdong Dantes proud of "Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles"

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Philippine Star

Dingdong Dantes is  taking to heart his entry into film production. After co-producing “Segunda Mano” for last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, the Kapuso actor is readying his second film as producer - the horror-adventure-comedy film “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” which he produced under his Agosto Dos Pictures in cooperation with Reality Entertainment of Dondon Monteverde and Erik Matti (who directed the film) and GMA Films.

According to the Kapuso hunk, the “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” was first conceptualized even before he decided to produce “Segunda Mano” but since the horror-fantasy-comedy film is more demanding in terms of production needs, it took more time to prepare. The movie uses computer- generated graphics hence it is more costly and more time consuming.

Dingdong said he got interested in the project after hearing about it from Dondon and Erik. He had been toying with the idea of producing a movie but was looking for a project that would interest him. He liked the material of “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” and it excited him. After that initial meeting, Dingdong decided he’s game in producing it.

He knew that the movie would be costly because of the CGI (computer-generated-images) effects needed for it but Dingdong went on with it. The budget was not a problem as long as they could come up with a good project. He felt proud after seeing the film. “I didn’t know that we Filipinos could come up with a movie that has topnotch CGI effects which we thought only could be done in Hollywood. I didn’t think of the budget anymore. As long as it would make the film excellent, I wouldn’t mind spending for it,” he added.

We’ve seen the trailer of “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” and we were impressed. Dingdong says he is lining up a hard-action film as one of his future projects. At least, he is able to do action in the movies, unlike on TV where he is usually given dramatic roles in teleseryes.

Also starring in “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” are Lovi Poe, Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, Ramon Bautista, and Roi Vinzon.

Dingdong is also preparing for his new drama show for GMA 7 titled “Haram” where he is paired with Kylie Padilla. He is also the host of “Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break”.

“Together Forever,” the youth-oriented drama series of GMA 7 ends tomorrow as its main stars Ely (Elmo Magalona) and Toyang (Julie Anne San Jose) undergo a big blow to their relationship.

Toyang would have the courage to tell Ely that her father Raymund (Richard Quan) was involved in the incident that caused the death of Ely’s parents. It was a painful decision for Toyang to make but she had to do it for the sake of truth.

After what he learned, Ely is finding it hard to continue his friendship with Toyang, who after revealing the truth, decided to end her friendship with Ely.

Meanwhile, Raymund decided to ask forgiveness from the Trinidad brood Jasmine (Janine Gutierrez), Raz (Renz Valerio), Angelo (Enzo Pineda) and Ely.

On the other hand, Jasmine is wondering if she will be able to reconcile with Ben (Benedict Campos).

Will there be a happy ending for Ely and Toyang? Will together forever be the ending of their love story? The final episode of “Together Forever” airs tomorrow (September 8) after StarTalkTX.
