Dulce helps ailing 'Usahay' singer

CEBU, Philippines - Singer and stage actress Dulce is lending a helping hand to fellow Visayan singer Susan Fuentes, who is hospitalized due to her kidney problem.

“Wala siyang supply para i-provide yung need niya sa medication. Kapag na-transplant ka, dapat pala magkaroon ka ng anti-rejection medication, na hindi pala niya nagagawa sa sarili niya. Lagi ko siyang kasama, pero hindi ko naman alam na ganoon yung need niya kasi hindi naman siya nag-o-open up about it,” Dulce said at the press conference of “Katy: The Musical” at the House of Representatives on Tuesday, August 14.

Dulce plays Olivia in the musical based on the life story of legendary jazz artist Katy dela Cruz.

Dulce admits she was a fan of Susan, known for her songs “Usahay” and “Miss Kita Kung Christmas,” before they became friends. Susan had a kidney transplant years ago but her kidney problem has recurred.

Dulce has asked help from fellow artists and has mounted the benefit concert “Usahay, Moments of Susan” at Zirkoh, Tomas Morato last August 28. Among those who pledged their support for the event were Jose Mari Chan, Aiza Seguerra, Jet Pangan, Nonoy Zuñiga, Faith Cuneta, and Frencheska Farr.
