This is the annual fundraiser for the Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation. The proceeds of the past editions of the golf tournament were used to pay for the tuition fees of the foundation’s scholars enrolled at STI Computer School and at The Reyes Haircutters.

For this year, the people heading the foundation are planning to assist the students affected by the recent flooding in Metro Manila places like Tondo where the comedy king spent his growing up years.

On August 31, the foundation will hold the “Dolphy Alay Tawa” concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, said Eric Quizon, the president of the foundation.

This is going to be a historic event since the three leading networks in the country are joining hands to make the event possible. The stars of ABS-CBN, TV5 at GMA 7 are performing at the concert. The said concert will be aired on the three networks on September 2. Among the beneficiaries of the event are the Philippine Red Cross, Eye Bank and Hope Foundation.

“With Hope Foundation, we plan to build a classroom in honor of my dad in Emilio Jacinto Elementary School, in my dad’s beloved Tondo,” said Eric.

Tickets for the concert are priced minimally at P150.

Eric also announced that by next month, SM Cinema will hold a retrospective, which will feature two of the last comedy films Dolphy made, including “Nobody, Nobody But Juan” and “Father Jejemon.” The two films will be screened in selected cinemas.

Award-winning actor Ronaldo Valdez figures in a controversial love story in the much-awaited and first "mature" film of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz from Star Cinema entitled "The Mistress" where he plays Bea’s "benefactor". "The Mistress" will be shown on September 12.

"When I read the script and learned about my role as Rico, the mature benefactor of Sari (Bea), I got excited so I agreed to accept the role. "I felt excited because it's a love story of two people, one young and one old, plus my character is also has a family," said the veteran actor.

According to Ronaldo, doing "The Mistress," Star Cinema's offering for the 10th anniversary of the Bea-John Lloyd loveteam, is a challenge. He had worked with John Lloyd and Bea in "I Love Betty La Fea," but he is not playing a father role to either of the two this time around. He is playing another man fighting for Bea's love.

"In 'Betty La Fea," I am playing Bea's dad. In this new movie of ours, we have an affair. I was kind of afraid she might be uncomfortable with our romantic scenes so I tried my best to be at ease with her. I didn't want her to think that I was taking advantage of her. Well, it's work, but then again, I need to prepare because we have a love scene."

Aside from Bea, John Lloyd and Ronaldo, also in the cast of the "The Mistress" is multi-awarded actress Hilda Koronel, who plays Regina, the common law wife of Rico.

"The Mistress" opens nationwide in cinemas on September 12, 2012.

After 14 years, "Lorenzo's Time" lead star Carmina Villaroel and long-time life partner Zoren Legaspi plan to finally tie the knot this year through a civil wedding, as Carmina herself confirmed recently.

“I do not want a big wedding firstly because we are both shy. We want it to be really simple with only our families in attendance,” she said.

According to Carmina, despite the absence of marriage, she is very happy with her life with Zoren and their twins Mavy at Cassy. “It’s not a typical relationship. Zoren is a perfect match for me because he always understands me and lets me be myself. I won’t be who I am today without him,” she said.

Meanwhile, Carmina’s birthday this year was made memorable by the staff and her co-stars in the top-rating Primetime Bida teleserye of ABS-CBN, "Lorenzo's Time."

"I celebrated my birthday on our taping. It’s so much fun because they all sang for me, I had my birthday cake, there were balloons, and we did nothing but eat," shared Carmina.

Opening today in theaters nationwide is the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival award-winning film “Mga Mumunting Lihim” written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes.

Featured in this movie about friendship are four talented actresses Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Agot Isidro and Janice de Belen who scored twin victories at theh Cinemalaya (where "Mga Mumunting Lihim" was first shown) by bagging the best ensemble acting award both for best supporting actress and best actress.

The movie also won Best Screenplay and should be a must see because of the acting of the four lead stars.

For those who love horror films, also opening today is the Lovi Poe starrer “Guni Guni,” which features her alongside showbiz newcomer Benjamin Alves as her leading man. This is written and directed by the award-winning film editor Tara Illenberger who also joined the Cinemalaya indie film fest some two years ago via the movie "Brutus," which starred Yul Servo.
