Landlady Amalia Fuentes battles her tenants

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis - The Philippine Star

Lovie actress Amalia Fuentes is in the hospital after she and her son Jeric figured in a fight with their tenants last week.

Amalia claims that she was poked in the back with an umbrella during the skirmish, which erupted after she and her son confronted a couple renting one of Amalia’s apartments in Manila about a bouncing check they issued as payment.

Jeric said the couple, Peter and Rosemarie Tan Licup, and several companions ganged up on him and his mother. He said the couple’s driver even tried to shoot him with a gun but it didn’t go off.

The Licups say they don’t owe Amalia any money and that it was she and Jeric who started the fight.

Amalia says she is going to sue the Licups for physical injuries, oral defamation, grave threats, slander, unjust fixation and coercion. The couple say they are going to sue Amalia and Jeric right back.

The Court of Appeals has upheld the decision of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to strip Hayden Kho of his medical license.

The decision, released last week, denied Hayden’s petition to reverse the findings of the PRC’s Board of Medicine that found him liable for immorality, dishonorable and unethical conduct. He had argued that the PRC was wrong in revoking his license because the crime he was accused of –circulating a sex video on the Internet – had nothing do to with the practice of medicine.

But the court ruled that medical professionals are expected to maintain a high standard of morality since they are tasked with looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of the public.

Kho was a physician for the Belo Medical Group Inc. (BMGI), and is in an off-and-on relationship with his boss, Dr. Vicki Belo.

In 2009, actress Katrina Halili filed a complaint against Hayden, accusing him of circulating on the Internet a video of the two of them having sex.

If you didn’t catch Sarah Geronimo’s 24/SG concert at the Araneta Coliseum last night, don’t fret. There’s going to be repeat of the show on July 21, also at the Big Dome.

One thing is sure: The producers of the show didn’t scrimp on Sarah’s fabulous costumes and sets. The gowns reportedly cost P6 million, while each set is worth between 22,000 and 30,000 dollars. Now that’s quite a bundle!

The costumes were the creation of Furne One, a Filipino designer making waves in Dubai. Furne’s career got a big push when he won the Mega Magazine Young Designer of the Philippines Award in 1994.

One of judges at the contest was the international fashion designer Josie Natori. Natori, a Filipina, saw Furne’s potential and asked him if he wanted to apprentice in her New York design house. Furne took up the offer, and his talent blossomed under Natori’s tutelage.

In 2002 Furne was confident enough to open his own boutique in Dubai – Amato Haute Couture. He began to get noticed in the international fashion scene. His big chance came when Swarovski commissioned Furne to design a glittering bridal dress that was featured in Swarovski’s limited edition book, Unbridaled.

Furne also partnered with Swarovski to produce show-stopping collections for Crystalised Swarovski Elements events.

Since then, Furne has become a catwalk regular, presenting his own collections at international fashion weeks in London, Dubai, Los Angeles and Miami.

He designs costumes for Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Nicole Scherzinger, Amber Rose, and Nicki Minaj.

After announcing that they were divorcing, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expected to be locked in a fierce legal battle for the custody of their six-year-old daughter, Suri.

Suri is staying with her mom, and while the spouses are not speaking, Tom is reportedly calling Suri “several times a day.”

Tom’s lawyer was also quoted as saying that the actor’s religion, Scientology, was not the reason the couple are separating.
