CEBU, Philippines - Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes found themselves leveling up in drama after their soap Mara Clara. As the past show was a big hit, their rivalry was taken to the wide screen via Way Back Home directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.
In the film, the middle child syndrome emancipates due to the return of an estranged younger sister. Separated while young, Jessica (Montes) lived in the shadow of regret upon literally losing Joanna (Bernardo). Joanna’s return however, didn’t cause Jessica to be jubilant; instead a conflict heightened and jealousy ensues.
The cast of Way Back Home is composed of seasoned actors and actresses; Agot Isidro portrayed as their distant mother, Lotlot de Leon as Joanna’s foster mother, and Tonton Gutierrez as their father. Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion complete the line-up.
According to a film review by Abby Mendoza of pep.com.ph, “It brings out one of the best dramatic scenes and emphatic dialogues primarily because relationships within the family are most relatable. Conflicts and dysfunction between parent and child or among siblings would always find an audience connecting to a particular character over another.”
For those who want to reminisce this timeless family drama, Way Back Home premieres on Cinema One on June 24 (Sunday), 8:00 p.m.
Cinema One is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide. For more information, log on to http://www.facebook.com/Cinema1channel.
