The big switch has happened! Sharon Cuneta is now a certified Kapatid! The megastar signed the deal with TV5 together with her managers Sandra Chavez and Vic del Rosario at the TV5 office in Taguig City on Tuesday.
Sharon said it was a difficult decision to leave ABS-CBN (which was her home for 23 years) and was part of her success. But she no longer had a contract with the Kapamilya network for quite some time and she wanted to try her luck in the Kapatid network that offered her a good deal.
The megastar will be doing a talk show ala Oprah, a reality show, plus a movie with Gabby Concepcion, a project that is much awaited by their fans.
For sure, Sharon has fond memories of her stay at ABS-CBN. But it’s time to move on. We wish Sharon the best as she takes another step in her career as a Kapatid star. We hope she will be happy in TV5 and we wish that the Kapatid network would give her the respect and care worthy of her stature as the megastar.

Ms. Casino Pilipino Catrine Rosary "Rei" Ocampo left on Tuesday for Germany to compete in the Queen of the World pageant to be held on December 3. It’s her first time to compete in an international pageant and is also her first time to travel abroad. She just turned 19 last October 17 and it was a wonderful birthday gift she received being crowned as Miss Casino Pilipino.
This is only the second time that the Philippines is competing in the Queen of the World pageant that’s why Rei can’t help but feel the jitters. The Pinay beauties are doing very well in the beauty pageants, the latest of which was Gwendolyn Ruais victory in the Miss World Pageant as first runner up. This puts some pressure on Rei.
She was trained by John dela Vega who is also her handler and discoverer. The JDV (John dela Vega team) members who helped train her are Jojo Mangalino, Francis Calubaquib, Joee Guilas and Jessie dela Cruz.
Rei and John would like to express thanks to Pagcor, its chairman Mr. Naguiat, Pagcor VP for Entertainment Bong Quintana and Mr. Jethro Chuacoco for their support.
Rei will be wearing a Joel Acebuche for the long gown competition and national costume when she competes in the Queen of the World.
When asked if she’s entering showbiz after her reign, Rei says she’d go back to school to finish her studies.

Award-winning director Joey Reyes is clear about what his forthcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry under OctoArts Films titled "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" offers: A slice of life.
"Ngayong Pasko ay makikita ninyo ang sarili ninyo o isa man lang sa mga kakilala niyo sa pelikulang ito," he said. "Each of the MMFF entries has its own slant and for us, we offer nothing fantastic, just reality—and that’s our edge."
And who better to deliver such thrust than real-life husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos? Direk Joey said that with the two on board, it’s easy to follow a cardinal rule in making this film and that is "walang kapekean. They must be themselves because this film is about showing what’s really happening now," he said.
Indeed, it is advantageous to everyone in "My Househusband: Ikaw Na" that Direk Joey and his stars do not have a director-actor relationship but one of true friendship. The three have worked together many times in the past and are even neighbors. Direk Joey says that off cam, Ryan and Juday are "not showbiz" at all, which is one of the reasons why he respects them.
"My Househusband: Ikaw Na" is about a married couple Rod (Ryan) and Mia (Judy Ann) who has non-traditional setup; that is Rod takes care of the house and the kids while Mia puts bread on the table. Along the way, situations arise that test the arrangement and their relationship.
Adding third wheel support to the tested tandem is none other than awarded actress in her own right, Eugene Domingo. "This film recognizes the equality of sexes according to the times. Moviegoers will leave the theater with an even healthier appreciation of the roles of husband and wife, and yet also the importance of indivuality," said Direk Joey.

Diamond Soul Siren Nina just released her new album under Universal Records titled "Stay Alive." This is a dance album and Nina herself conceptualized this with the help of the people from Universal Records, her new home after spending quite a number of years under Warner Music Philippines.
"I want to try a different genre that’s why we decided to come up with a dance album," says the singer who used to be part of ASAP Sessionistas but she left the group about six months ago. She said she did so to concentrate on her album.
Nina says she dances in her concerts and the idea to do a dance album is some sort of experiment for her. "I want to try something new," says the singer. Besides, I worked hard for this album for six months and I do hope the music lovers would like this."
The carrier single is titled "Dance," a catchy tune that should be appreciated by all lovers of music. It was because of this album that Nina had to quit appearing at ASAP Rocks! every Sunday. Those who perform with her in Sessionistas were wondering if Nina did really leave them and if she’s no longer coming back.
“I did not leave because I am not the one who decides if I would leave them or not. If I want to leave Sessionistas but ASAP decides that I should stay then I should stay put," she said.
According to Nina, she and ASAP are still talking about a new segment that might bring her back to the show. She’s not yet sure if the new segment would feature her solo but she doesn’t see any problem if ever ASAP asks her to return. But as of now, she’s out of ASAP Rocks. She has an offer to do guest stints in TV5 but Nina says this doesn’t mean she’s moving to the Kapatid network.
