Willie Revillame's Wiltime BigTime turns 1
Billed as Wiltime BigTime Sama Sama sa Unang Taon, it was a night of prize-giving as the flagship game show of TV5 and Wiltime Productions gave out more exciting and eye-popping prizes as the show went on.
According to TV5 people, as early as Friday night, people already started to gather within the premises of the Smart Araneta Coliseum. But with the 2,000-strong security personnel that was fielded within the premises, there was no problem in controlling the crowd. In fairness, the crowd was orderly and there was only reported incidents of jostling or breaking of lines that happened.
When the crowd grew thick by early morning of Saturday, the TV5 people and the Araneta Center management decided to allow the people to enter the coliseum but brought them first to a holding area as the staff of Wiltime Bigtime were still rehearsing for the show.
Song numbers were provided by Barbie Almabis, the Aegis, and Andrew E who wowed the crowd with his antics. Aga Muhlach made a surprise appearance.
The venue was almost full to the rafters, especially in the General Admission section. But the TV5 people said they only released 12,000 tickets even if the full capacity is about 15k as they didn't want to compromise the safety of the crowd who will watch the show.
Even if the show lasted six hours, not much movement was happening in the audience. Everyone was hoping to win any one of the exciting up for grabs in the raffle.
Plus, there were the grand prizes of five 100T, two half a million cash prizes, five Toyota Vios, and 3 house-and-lot-package from Camella homes.
The prizes were so attractive that more than three million people participated in the two-week run of the promo leading up to the anniversary presentation of WilTime BigTime.
Senator Manny Villar, a close friend of Willie, as well as Bobby Barreiro, Chief Operations Officer of TV5, and TV5 Big Boss Manny Pangilinan watched the show together with the big crowd.
The warm reception given by the crowd to Willie proves that the guy is well-loved by his audience. Despite the problems that the show encountered and is still facing due to the cases filed against Willie, his audience stood by him and continued to support him. No matter if his voice is hoarse or at times he could not be understood, Willie's loyal viewers didn't mind. Seeing him doing what he does best - entertain and make them happy - is enough for the audience.
