Why Charice was dropped from Glee

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis -

That is what many wags are implying after the Filipina was cut from the highly popular TV musical series. The talk is that the show’s producers were pushed to make a choice between Lea and Charice. According to an insider quoted by the web site Tvsomniac, "Charice was signed for a minimum of five episodes and did a press junket with [fellow new star] Chord Overstreet. She had a big debut, but things changed and they didn’t put her back in. The word is, Lea is the big star, and producers want to keep her happy."

The same site carried a denial from a Glee spokesman. "This is categorically untrue. We love Charice, and she was a wonderful addition to Glee last season. While it is true that she appeared in fewer episodes last year than we originally anticipated, this was due to her busy schedule and the natural creative process in which some story arcs … did not materialize as planned. Lea is a consummate pro who couldn’t be more welcoming of other powerhouse singers on the show…"

Wow! Charice must really be that good to be perceived as a threat to someone like Lea Michelle. Many of Charice’s fans may make a case that she was a victim of racial bias, but that may be going too far. The competition is fierce in the American TV industry, where ratings is king. Bigger stars have been axed by producers who are after rating points.

Piolo Pascual says all is well between him and girlfriend KC Concepcion amid reports that their relationship is on the rocks.

"We are okay. No problems," Piolo said in an interview last week.

A hint that something was wrong surfaced when KC posted this tweet recently: "Meeting in a while. May event later pero pass muna ako. May mga bagay na di kinakaya ng utak at puso ko:) kaya magpaka-busy na lang tayo:)."

Not long after that, KC’s mom, Sharon Cuneta, reminded anyone who is romantically involved with KC "to love her and take care of her the way we would. I didn’t raise her to be taken for granted."

Hmm. Sounds more like a veiled warning to me.

On the other hand, KC’s dad, Gabby Concepcion, has chosen not to get involved in his daughter’s problems of the heart. "It’s their relationship not mine. Just make good of it. Be happy," he said.

Money is the root of the bitter feud between Annabelle Rama and Nadia Montenegro.

The way Annabelle tells it, Nadia had asked her help to acquire a P1 million advance from GMA 7 on the guaranteed contract of her daughter, Ynna Asistio. Annabelle was at the time Ynna’s manager.

When Annabelle tried to collect her commission a year later, she said Nadia brusquely told her she could not afford a lump sum payment. Annabelle reasoned that she deserved to be paid in full because it’s been a year since she loaned the amount.

Annabelle said she learned that Nadia had used the P1 million as down payment for the rent on her house.
