Pilipinas Got Talent Grand Finals

CEBU, Philippines - After 15 weeks of searching the best acts in the country, tonight is the night we have all been waiting for. Fourteen grand finalists from all over the Philippines will be competing in Araneta Coliseum for 2M worth of prizes, international tours and a much coveted spot in the entertainment arena.

Pilipinas Got Talent is the Philippine version of the famed “Got Talent” franchise developed by British entrepreneur and TV personality, Simon Cowel. It aims to discover and develop talents which are genuinely and proudly Pinoy so it is not surprising that the grand finalists for this season is the crème de la crème of the most talented Filipinos that we have since auditions were held in almost every major city in the country.

The grand finalists are composed of the Freestylers from Laguna (dancing, Madrigal siblings of Bacolod (singing), B4 of Baguio City (remix dancing), Angel Calalas from Rizal (holahoop in a harness), Happy Feet from Bukidon (tap dancing), John Michael Narag of Pangasinan (singing), Filogram of Baguio (dancing), DJP Trio from Bacolod (singing), Buildex Pagales of Digos City (acoustic), Neilbeth from Bacolod (dancesports), Marcelito Po Moy of Cavite (singing) Rico of Caloocan (magician) Skeights from Davao City (band) and Jem Cubil from Cebu City (musician).

In an exclusive interview with seventeen-year-old crooner and the only Cebuano contender, Jem Cubil in his residence in Talisay, he narrates that it is not easy to be in a competition where text vote is a very important component. “Kinahanglan dili lang ka talented, dapat naa pud kay charisma sa mga tawo para mubutar sila nimo," quips Jem.

Aside from going around the schools and malls in Cebu and asking the government officials for support, the entire family spent days in a text campaign in Negros Oriental and Cagayan De Oro City. Jem considers another crooner and acoustic finalist, Buildex Pagales as his competition . “Pareha man gud mi nga musician so murag kami kabawot but each one of us has a different talent to showcase and that makes the competition really tough," added Jem. But with his boy-next-door looks coupled with his charm, talent and determination, Jem is definitely a star to watch out for after the competition.
