CEBU, Philippines - Asia’s queen of songs Pilita Corrales will topbill the list of award-winning performers during the launching of the newly expanded Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas Halad Museum.
A harana of Cebuano songs popularized by Minggoy Lopez, Maning Velez and more will be performed by the multi-awarded UV Chorale, the Mutya Orchestra, and Cebu’s very own, Pilita Corrales.
Highlight of the musical performances is the unveiling of the winning composition of Maestro Mil Villareal for the Halad Theme Song Contest, besting entries from Cebu and abroad, entitled “Awit ni Dodong” with lyrics by Leo Lastimosa.
The event will be broadcasted on Monday, 8:00-10:00pm at DYAB. Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
Founded by Dodong Gullas and dedicated to his parents, Don Vicente and Inday Pining Gullas, the Halad Museum is the region’s first musically themed museum. It showcases the wide ranging and enduring legacies of Cebuano cultural heritage as expressed through music.
Devoted to Cebu’s rich music history, the museum houses songs and memorabilia of Cebuano musical greats who have earned recognition for their extraordinary talents.
