Imperial crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2011

BALER, Aurora ,Philippines  — Athena Mae Imperial who represented the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora was crowned 2011 Miss Philippines Earth during the finale night held at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum in Palawan, south of Manila, and aired over ABS-CBN Channel 2 last night, June 5, 2011. 

Athena will represent the country in the international Miss Earth 2011 beauty pageant which will be held in Thailand on this coming December. 

Imperial, 24 years old, was a Top 10 finalist of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 that was held in Baler, Aurora. She’s a high school valedictorian, a Communications Research graduate from UP Diliman and a former production staff and researcher in an investigative program on GMA 7. 

Other winners from 2011 Miss Philippines Earth final night: Miss Philippines Air 2011: Puerto Princesa, Jonavi Raisa Quiray; Miss Philippines Water 2011: Cebu City, Murielle Adrienne Orais; Miss Philippines Fire 2011: Las Piñas City, Michelle Gavagan; Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism 2011: Makati City, Tarhata Clio Shari Rico; Miss Philippines-Earth aims to give a strong emphasis on environmental awareness programs. 

The winner of Miss Philippines-Earth will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country.
