Kris Aquino promotes "My Heart's Journey"
CEBU, Philippines - That precisely is the allure of a Kris Aquino, that even when the product she’s hawking is a record album where she doesn’t render a single song but simply waxes philosophical through narrations while legit singers croon the remakes for her, the public still snatch copies of said CD like she was the biggest recording artist in town?
When the actress-TV host held a recent meet-and-greet at the SM City Cebu Centre to promote a new album under Universal Records called “My Heart’s Journey,” she must have suffered a numb right hand after signing all copies that her followers purchased within the venue. Kris sat on stage for at least two hours to accommodate each person who lined up to get her autograph minted in their newly-bought CD and strike a pose with the often controversial personality.
This is Kris’ fifth full-length studio album, the first being “Songs of Love and Healing,” which reached double platinum in sales; “Love and Inspiration,” which reached gold; “The Greatest Love” which reached platinum; and “Blessings of Love.” Unbelievable to have achieved gold and platinum for a non-singer, but that’s why they’ve christened her Queen of All Media.
Hers is a spoken word, special collector’s edition that features 15 tracks chronicling seven exciting phases of Kris’ recent colorful journey, with love in all of its many forms being the unifying element. It gathers some of the stars in both Universal and Star Records to sing the songs that Kris personally chose to be in the album.
The CD is divided into segments, each with a subtitle symbolizing the rollercoaster of emotions and realizations she had undergone.
The first segment is “My Journey: The Broken Road,” where Toni Gonzaga performs “God Bless The Broken Road” and KC Concepcion delivers a soulful rendition of “What About Love.”
In “My Journey: The Road Of Love,” Kris opens up her heart as she narrates the strong interconnection between love ballads and her romantic experiences in the past six years. Christian Bautista gives a masculine twist to “Love Moves In Mysterious Ways” while Jed Madela dishes out a chilling interpretation of “Only Love” and “To Where You Are.” Karylle reinterpreted and breathed life to the classic “It Must Have Been Love.”
“My Journey: The Road To God” expresses Kris’ spiritual journey as she surrenders her life to the infinite love of God. Here, Kris Gail Blanco performs “I Will Be Here” and “In Your Eyes” while the tandem of Regine Velasquez and Lani Misalucha renders a duet of “When You Believe.”
Kris then bares her deepest hopes and aspirations for “My Journey: The Road Of Expectations.” Zsa Zsa Padilla gives her rendition of “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight.” In “My Journey: The Road Of Understanding,” Nina belts out “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
She then celebrates the healing power of letting go and moving on in “My Journey: The Road Of Forgiveness” as Jed returns to sing “Healing,” and “Beautiful In My Eyes” in “My Journey: The Road of Redemption.” Christian Bautista performs a bonus track dedicated by Goldilocks to Kris for her birthday titled “Araw Mo.”
The CD also comes with a special journal containing inspiring life-changing quotes written by Kris herself.
