CEBU, Philippines - The JRG Halad Museum, founded by The FREEMAN chairman Jose R. Gullas, is reminding interested parties that the deadline for entries to its theme song competition is this Monday, April 11, 2011.
The museum is calling on professional and amateur songwriters to participate in the contest by composing the music to accompany the lyrics of the official Halad theme song. A cash prize of P50,000 is at stake for the winning composition.
The lyrics, which take inspiration from the memoir of Jose R. Gullas entitled “To Never Forget,” tell of a man’s serenade to a beloved; singing his fears of losing her as well as vows to take care of her.
The romantic lyrics is also very much reflective of the purpose of the JRG Halad Museum, which stands to represent the founder’s intention to preserve and honor the contributions, memorabilia and legacies of Cebuano composers and other musicians.
The contest rules and guidelines, as well as the lyrics, can be viewed in the museum's official Facebook page (simply search Jose "Dodong" R. Gullas Halad Museum).
