Summer Teachers: Meet Acey Aguilar and Reb Atadero
CEBU, Philippines - Get to know two actors who will be teaching Little Boy Productions’ Summer Theater Workshops – Acey Aguilar and Reb Atadero.
Acey Brylle Aguilar is a familiar face on television as he has done several commercials and was also in the cast of ABS-CBN’s “May Bukas Pa” and “Sabel.” He is also a regular in the new "Iskul Bukol" on TV5.
But theater will always be his first love, having majored in theater at the Philippine High School for the Arts-Makiling Campus. He has worked with Dulaang UP, Tanghalang Pilipino, and Sipat Lawin Ensemble, and among his theater credits are lead and supporting roles in "Orosman at Zafira," "Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah," "Batang Pro," "Pragres," "Shock Value," and "Lulu."
Aside from television and theater, he has also appeared in several indie films, including the recent Cinemalaya entry “Rekrut,” co-starring Joem Bascon, JM de Guzman, and Dominic Roco.
This is Acey's fifth year of teaching summer workshops in Cebu. He looks forward to “learning from the students as much as they learn from me because theater is such a collaborative activity.”
Reb Kerwin Atadero first major production was playing the supporting role of Zeke in the Asian premiere of Disney’s “High School Musical.” There were 250 people who auditioned and 45 were ultimately cast, including Karel Marquez who played female lead Gabriella. Produced by Little Boy Productions and Blue Repertory, “High School Musical” played 11 sold-out shows in Manila in 2007.
After that, Reb went on to play his first major role as Juan in “Altar Boyz” for Repertory Philippines, the theater company where Lea Salonga and Monique Wilson trained before they played “Miss Saigon” in London and on Broadway. The pressure was on because it was a lead role and there were only 5 people in the cast! But his performance wowed the audiences and the critics, with Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Gibbs Cadiz positive review saying Reb “seizes his moment with admirable self-assurance and comic timing.”
Aside from theater, Reb also conducts team building and leadership workshops for corporate clients, having graduated with a degree in BS Management from Ateneo de Manila University two years ago.
This is Reb’s third year of teaching workshops in Cebu and he looks forward to this year’s batch of workshop students. He says “it’s always fun teaching in Cebu, the vibe is so relaxed, and the students are so talented."
