Kris gets candid about her sons and the men in her life

Despite an unimpressive performance last week, Thia Megia is still in the running as “American Idol” winds down to the final 10 contestants.

The Fil-Am’s rendition of Vanessa Williams’ “Colors of the Wind” got lukewarm reviews from the judges. "I'm not sure if it's nervousness or that's the quality of your vibrato,” noted Jennifer Lopez. “Either way I don't wanna think about that. So I feel that needs a little bit of working on too. So push out of the box then come out next week and kill it.”

Randy Jackson found the rendition boring. "There was nothing special, unique about it. You have the talent. Maybe a different kind of song next time. Dig a little deeper, take some chances cause you can sing.”

Steven Tyler questioned the choice of the song. "Is that song who you think you are?" he asked Thia.

The 15-year-old reasoned that the song jibed with "what's going on in the world today."

Still, Thia did enough to win the vote of the viewers. She wasn’t even in the dreaded Bottom 3. It was Karen Rodriguez, who was fond of injecting Spanish words into her lyrics, who got booted out.

Thia had better infuse some energy into her act if she expects to make it all the way to the finale. So far her songs lacked the zing that will make her stand out.

Kris Aquino gave reporters a generous serving of inside info about herself, her sons and the men in her life at an interview during the launch of a spaghetti brand she was endorsing last week.

The Queen of Media was unsurprisingly candid when she revealed that she didn’t invite Phillip Salvador, Joshua’s dad, to their son’s birthday party.

Why? Phillip “was not really involved in Josh’s life.”

“There’s been too much water under bridge with Ipe,” Kris said. “Maybe he was ashamed that I shouldered 100 percent of the financial responsibility (in bringing up Joshua). So it’s very hard to build on that relationship.”

The way Kris tells it, she’s completely over ex-husband James that she can shrug off rumors that he’s dating actress and fellow Visayan Isabel Oli.

“Let’s stop prying into his life. I don’t want him to pry into mine,” she said.

She and James already have a formal agreement regarding separation of properties “so the financial aspect is complete.”

She refused to get into details, saying it was still a court matter.

Right now, her priority is to make Bimby happy. A new romance, she said, is farthest from her mind.

“If nobody comes, I have my two boys who love me very much.”

This year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant has lost another candidate to disqualification.

According to Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc., the pageant organizer, Bianca Paz has been dropped from the roster "due to circumstances affecting her which recently came to light."

The organizer did not elaborate on the “circumstances” but reports indicate that Bianca was disqualified because she had posed for a sexy calendar and one of the photos gave a peek of one of boobs.

Just a few weeks ago, another candidate, Roxanne Cabanero, was shown the door after photos supposedly of her naked began to circulate on the Internet.

Roxanne denies she was the woman in the photos.

Ethel Booba denies she tried to torch her condominium unit last week after finding out that her boyfriend was gay.

The comedian told Boy Abunda on “Showbiz News Ngayon” she was drunk and accidentally set fire to a lampshade when she lighted a cigarette.

She said she tried to drink away her depression after her boyfriend left her after a big fight. She was also feeling down because she had a miscarriage last month.

Ethel said she wouldn’t set fire to her unit because she was just renting it.
