Jay-R sings OPM love classics at the terraces tonight

CEBU, Philippines - The "Platinum Prince of Soul" Jay R will promote his brand-new album dubbed "Jay R Sings OPM Love Classics" at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu, tonight (Nov. 12), beginning 7pm.

In this new concept album of his, Jay R brings his brand of soul to some of OPM's most romantic ballads, produced by the Platinum producer Ito Rapadas. The 13 songs were handpicked by Jay R himself and for the first time, he decided to record an all-Tagalog album as a tribute to some of the biggest OPM hitmakers during the 80's and 90's.

Songs from OPM luminaries like Basil Valdez, Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ogie Alcasid and even the bands like Rivermaya, True Faith, I-Axe, South Border were given the 'Jay R' touch and will surely appeal to Jay R fans and OPM music lovers alike.

The album also features Jay R's collaboration with the "First Female Diamond Artist" and "Soul Siren" Nina in the track "Muli", while the carrier single is the 1996 Rivermaya classic "Himala".

Jay R took the local music biz by storm when his smash ballad "Bakit Pa Pa?" became the biggest OPM ballad of 2003. He was crowned the "Prince of R&B" because of his smooth and soulful vocal styling which eventually spawned several local clones. His debut album "Gameface" was certified Platinum, from then on Jay R became a household name.

Movies, commercial endorsements, gigs and regular TV stints came his way and a new OPM superstar was born. His Gold-certified self-titled second album produced another hit "Ngayo'y Narito", but it was his 2008 album "Soul In Love" that surprised everyone in the music industry. "Soul In Love" was filled with a solid track list, great instrumentation, live feel and outstanding vocal performance.

"Soul In Love" became the #1 album of 2008 in one the country's biggest record stores and also solidified Jay R's status as Platinum recording artist when the album became his 2nd Platinum Record. Jay R hopes to repeat the feat with his latest offering, Jay R Sings OpM Classics". (THE FREEMAN)
