Chalk up another award for Charice

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis -

Charice continues her amazing streak towards international stardom. The petite Pinay has just won J-14 magazine’s Icon of Tomorrow Award, getting a big boost from her fans who voted via the Internet.

J-14 is America’s top teen celebrity magazine marketed for kids between 9 and 14. It has a monthly circulation of 400,000.

Just recently the international singing sensation was on the cover of Toronto Sun Television. She was also a big hit in the concert, David Foster and Friends, in Singapore. The show almost got cancelled after Charice suffered from a bum stomach after lunching on sushi in a Japanese restaurant.

The camp of James Yap is asking a Makati court to order his wife Kris Aquino to refrain from commenting further on their annulment case.

In seeking the gag order, James’ lawyer Lorna Kapunan explained that letting Kris carry on about the state of their marital affairs is unfair to her client. “We have found Kris ventilating her concerns to the media. Trial by publicity. It has to stop. James doesn’t have influence in media,” the lawyer said.

Kris said she would not mind a gag order. “Good, it's a blessing for Bimby. Because ultimately I need to protect my son’s feelings.”

Still on Kris, she poked fun at her friend Liz Uy during the pictorial for the horror film, “Dalaw.” Liz has been caught in the public limelight after being romantically linked with President Aquino.

Liz, who is a stylist, was coaxing Kris to strike a more provocative pose with the film’s leading man Diether Ocampo. The Queen of All Media couldn’t help but tease Liz, “Is this how you two pose? Hahahaha. Gotcha there.”

Kris apparently is all for Liz as her brod’s gf. “I don’t see any reason why they should hide it. Liz is very much single and so is my brother. If they’re getting to know each other at this point that’s their right.”

Despite all the fuss about her, Liz has kept quiet and discreet.

Starting tomorrow, former Vice President Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez return to their old news program “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN.

Noli will be back as news anchor after almost nine years in the political arena. Korina took a year’s hiatus from the program to get married to Sen. Mar Roxas and join him in the campaign trail when he ran for vice president.

The two will be rejoining Ted Failon on “TV Patrol.”

Also tomorrow, Kim Atienza, another member of “TV Patrol,” is scheduled for surgery to fix a hole in his heart.

It was this hole that caused his mild stroke in August, explained the show’s resident weatherman.

“I want to seal this hole for good :),” Kim twitted. “After this hole is closed, I can bike again!”

He is excited about the operation, and even plans to feature it in his show, “Matanglawin.”

It’s time to roll out the entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival in December.

Ai-Ai de las Alas teams up with fellow comedian Eugene Domingo for "Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin, Huli na 'To."

Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. also forms a tandem with Vic Sotto for "Agimat ni Enteng," a multi-million action-fantasy-comedy movie.

Kris Aquino and Diether Ocampo opted to join the horror-thriller bandwagon with "Dalaw." Also out to scare viewers are Andi Eigenmann, Shaina Magdayao, Rayver Cruz and Carla Abellana in “Shake Rattle and Roll 12.”

Jake Cuenca, Marian Rivera, Pokwang and John Lapuz go retro, reviving the Maricel Soriano classic “Super Inday at ang Magic Bibe.”

3D being the rage, check out “RPG (Metanoia),” an animation featuring the voices of Aga Muhlach, Zaijan Jaranilla, Vhong Navarro.

Comedy King Dolphy stars in two entries “Rosario,” based on an actual adultery case in the 1920s, and “Father Jejemon” with Maja Salvador.
