Elaborate costumes make world dancesport athletes a feast for the eyes

CEBU, Philippines - Dancing skills are not that the only things to watch out for but glittery DanceSport costumes as well!  Seasoned dancers believe their costumes are works of art.  For athletes in the 2010 Cebu IDSF World DanceSport Open, presentation can either make you or break you so they wear the best gowns they can get.

Designs may be influenced by dance style and experience, costume needs, favorite colors and styles, figure types and any idea one may have for a dream costume.  Quality fabrics are exotically cut and trimmed and touched with rhinestones.  Latin dresses sold worldwide range from $1,000 to $1,500 and this is without rhinestones.  Ball gowns range from $1,500 to $2,500 still without rhinestones.  Rhinestones on gowns are an additional $25 per gross (144) for rhinestones, which includes the stones plus the labor to apply them.

Although artificial fabrics are now widely used, the most common fabrics for ball gowns are are satin, silk, taffeta and velvet with trimmings of lace, pearls, sequins, embroidery, ruffles and ruching.  Accessories are added in.  Glittering swarovsky jewelry, synthetic or real gem stones are paired with fingerless gloves or gauntlets with points on the back of the hands and elastic finger loops to hold them in place.
