Actor Charlie Davao, 75

CEBU, Philippines - Veteran actor Charlie Davao succumbed to colon cancer yesterday morning at the Philippine General Hospital, according to media reports.

He was 75.

Davao, who was born in Iloilo City, was a sought-after character actor, who started his career with Sampaguita Pictures. He became a favorite antagonist in TV and movies, particularly in the Philippine adaptation of James Bond movies in the '60s.

His last project was the GMA-7 television drama series "Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak" with Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado.

Charlie Davao was also the father of actor Ricky Davao.
