Charice reveals how she got into "Glee"

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis -

It’s nice to be back in Cebu! I planed in yesterday with the group of tita Annabelle Rama.

They may play rivals in Glee but lead star Lea Michele and new cast member Charice may end up as the best of friends.

Charice is joining the popular musical series on Fox TV in its coming season in September. She plays a Filipino exchange student that will be Michele’s adversary.

In a recent interview, Michele shared her thoughts about her impending “confrontation” with the 18-year-old Pinay. “Just hearing her singing, hum backstage, she has gorgeous voice. I would give her more credit than that. I mean she’s going to be a rival in the sense… we will probably become best friends or something, do you know what I mean?” she said.

Is there going to be fireworks between her and Charice? “I don’t think it’s going to be what you think it’s going to be, that’s my prediction. But we might be in a catfight, I don’t know.”

She described Charice as the “tiniest, the most [sweet] person I’ve ever seen in my life.”

In an interview on Seventeen magazine, Charice revealed details about how she got into Glee.

During her audition, Charice sang “In This Song.” “David Foster wrote the song for me. I thought that I should sing a ballad song. I thought they would love it.”

She was in Europe when she got the news that she got the job. “I didn’t get an e-mail from the show so I wasn’t tweeting at that time. I just watched my fans tweet. And then after about 30 minutes the show e-mailed me and said congratulations.”

Charice considers singing with Celine Dion as her biggest accomplishment so far. “She is one of my heroes. The first song I learned was My Heart Will Go On. And we sang Because You Loved Me for my mom which was a huge deal for me.”

She would love to cut a record with either Beyonce or Lady Gaga. “They are both my inspirations. Especially Beyonce. She’s like number 1 right now because I love everything about her. Her fashion, her style, her attitude when it comes to singing. She’s perfect.”

Piolo Pascual is glad that the misunderstanding between him and Megastar Sharon Cuneta over the supposed ugly Twitter messages of his son Iñigo to KC Concepcion is over.

At a press conference last week, Piolo revealed that he had visited Sharon to clear the air. “As a mom, she just really wants me to say my piece about the issue and I ironed out things.”

I’m sure Piolo is trying to move heaven and earth to set things right with the Megastar. After all, he’s courting her daughter, KC.

The controversy started after Tweats supposedly sent by the 13-year-old Iñigo called KC names. Sharon flared up and demanded an explanation and apology from Piolo.

The actor explained that his son never had a Twitter account. He said pranksters might have hacked Iñigo’s account.

Tito Boy Abunda is denying reports that his close friend Kris Aquino will be a judge at this year’s Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas.

Boy, who is also Kris’ talent manager, said Kris hasn’t received a formal invitation from the pageant’s organizer.

Boy said he doesn’t know where the report came from. The report first appeared on Facebook that Kris will be joining the panel of judges that includes Ricky Martin and tennis star Rafael Nadal.

One of the contenders for Miss Universe is the Philippines’ Maria Venus Raj.

The pageant airs on ABS-CBN on August 24 at 9:30 am.
