SM City Cebu to hold Glee Show Choir Showdown

CEBU, Philippines – The battle of the best choirs in Cebu begins! Join the Glee Show Choir Showdown this August at SM City Cebu.

This contest is open to any high school and college pop chorale groups composed of 6 to 12 members, age 14 to 19 years old. Those interested must get their application form from the Mall Administration office of SM City Cebu located at the 2nd floor of The Northwing. Application is now ongoing and will end on August 20, 2010 at 1pm.

Competing groups must perform two numbers of pop contemporary songs with dance choreography. The group may perform songs from any of the Glee albums available under Sony Music.

Each group must perform with an accompaniment of minus one CD. Live musical instruments are not allowed. Criteria for judging includes vocal quality, showmanship, musicality, audience impact, and costume.

Glee is a musical comedy-drama television series that airs on Fox in the United States. It focuses on a high school show choir (a modern glee club) called "New Directions", at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio.

In 2009, "Glee" had 25 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart-including the cast performance of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" which had more than 500,000 digital sales.

The Glee Show Choir Showdown is set on August 22, 4pm, at the Event Centre of SM City Cebu. (THE FREEMAN)
