CEBU, Philippines - Three separate events found JC Tiuseco recently flying in and out of Cebu three times all in one week. First was a shoot for his QTV 11 extreme sports challenge show “The X-Life” which he hosts with Stephanie Henares and Gino dela Peña, an out-of-town taping for GMA 7’s primetime drama “Langit sa Piling Mo” and then as participant in the Energizer Night Race and Kapuso Night held at Parkmall Mandaue City. Too bad it was all for work that JC wasn’t able to squeeze in time to visit some of Cebu’s famous spots.
During the night race, the first-ever Pinoy Sole Survivor shared to The FREEMAN his piece of advice for the celebrity castaways who will strive to outthink, outplay and outlast each other in Survivor Philippines’ third season, a celebrity edition, to be hosted by Kapuso leading man Richard Gutierrez. The cast and crew are currently filming in a still-undisclosed Asian location.
“Actually kilala ko lahat ng mga castaways na kasali. Advice ko sa kanila, just do their best. Kahit itago nila, lalabas din yung personality nila so magpakabait lang sila. Syempre kung hindi ka mabait, turn-off,” said JC, whose boy-next-door charm and down-to-earth persona helped land him the coveted title during the reality show’s first edition.
The Management graduate said he handed over all of his Survivor prize money to his parents, who in turn invested the amount in their family business.
“Wala akong tinira for myself. Choice ko yun. Kahit naman hanggang ngayon, nagbibigay pa rin ako kahit hindi nila sinasabi sa akin,” the 25-year-old Fil-Chinese heartthrob revealed.
JC is loving his stint as host of “X-Life” since he’s given the chance to travel and try out different adventures, all of which has the prime objective of promoting a healthy and fit lifestyle. The sports aficionado that he is, getting fit has been second skin to him.
“Everytime na walang work or may masisingit akong time, I go to the gym at least three times a week,” he shared of his fitness regimen.
When his schedule seems too much for him to bear and exhaustion sets in, what serves as his motivation to get up and drag himself to the gym?
“Actually, maraming pwedeng gawing motivation. Una, tingnan ko lang yung sarili ko sa mirror na nakikita ko yung improvement sa katawan mo. Makakita din ako ng ibang tao na ang ganda ng katawan nila. So sasabihin ko sa sarili ko na sana ma-achieve ko rin yun. I also think of the many benefits sa work ko. I’m more alert and focused kapag fit yung katawan ko,” was JC’s reply.
But he cautioned that going through a strict diet program without ample rest is a bad combination, as he personally experienced last month.
“Sobrang strict diet ako dati. Pag kumakain ako, ano lang, fish, tuna or wheat bread. Ngayon naman, a lot of people told me na sobrang payat ko at bagsak yung katawan ko. Puro puyat, pagod, tapos sinabayan ko pa ng sobrang diet. Hindi talaga ako kumakain eh, water at whey protein lang. So nung sinabi nilang sobrang payat ko na, binalik ko lang yung dati. Kaya eto, nahabol ko na actually. “
And how does the TV personality take care of his skin? “Nothing fancy, I just wash my face both in the morning and evening. Then toner lang. Medyo sensitive yung skin ko kaya katulad ngayon, pula-pula siya kasi katatapos ko lang magpa-derma. Pag may time at sinipag ako, I go to the derma pero hindi naman palagi.”
