KRIS AQUINO: leaves for the US, won't attend brother P.Noy's SONA

The Kris Aquino grapevine seems to be drying up now that the actress/TV host has taken a hiatus from showbiz.

After the bombshell revelation about giving up on her marriage and James Yap insisting it’s still worth fighting for, we’re down to tidbits about the men recently linked to Kris. They include Gerald Anderson and Coco Martin, her co-stars in the soap Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, and two politicians, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay and Senator Chiz Escudero.

Kris told Philippine Star Entertainment Editor Ricky Lo that she knew about the rumors. “The one about Gerald is new to me. The one about Coco is old hat. Once Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo is done I won’t be seeing them anytime soon so I hope that’s that. I heard the one about Chiz yesterday. Junjun is a very dear friend. He took the rumors in stride and he’s actually protective of me, so all is cool.”

Kris has left for a three-week vacation in Orlando, Florida, with sons Joshua and Baby James.

That means she won’t be attending the brother Noynoy’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 26, but will be back for the death anniversary of her mom Cory on August 1.

James Yap didn’t see his family off. So why am I not surprised?

Boxing icon and now Sarangani Congressman Manny Pacquiao says he’s happy for Krista Ranillo now that she’s engaged to be married. “At least people will now stop speculating that we had a relationship,” the Pacman told reporters.

The actress seems to be adjusting well to life in the US, away from all that persistent talk about her affair with Pacquiao. She even plans to take up law.

Speaking of Manny, he has announced that he might be hanging up his gloves soon. One last fight, he says, and he’s retiring. That fight may be the one everybody’s waiting for – Pacquiao’s showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

For the moment, the Pacman is preoccupied with his new occupation as a lawmaker. He’s even taken private lessons on governance. He has to train well for his new job because it could be as challenging as a prizefight.

My source tells me the presscon for Star Cinema’s horror offering Cinco had to cut short to prevent reporters from interviewing its stars, whose love lives were more interesting than the movie itself.

Mariel Rodriguez still has to elaborate on her break-up with Zanjoe Marudo, who appears in one of the movie’s five episodes. Reporters also want to ask Pokwang why her supposed American boyfriend has suddenly make himself scarce. And Maja Salvador has to give a definitive answer on her relationship with Direk Malu Sevilla.

Never has a fingernail created a firestorm. But when that nail belongs to Lindsay Lohan, it’s worth all the fuss.

The 24-year-old starlet was in court last week to hear the judge sentence her to 90 days in jail for violating probation in two drunken driving cases three years ago. While she sat sobbing, her hand pressed against her mouth, telephoto lenses focused on her middle finger where the letters “f***k u” were inscribed on the multicolored nail.

Was it aimed at the judge? Or was it Lindsay’s message to her father for whom she is full of spite? Or was she giving the paparazzi the finger?

None of the above, Lindsay said in her Twitter account. “It had nothing to do w/court. It's an airbrush design from a stencil.”

Two days later, her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley resigned after calling the sentence ''harsh and unfair.''

“'The reality is that Ms. Lohan, like most defendants, had to balance work commitments and court requirements,” Holley said in a statement. “To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair.”
