Heart, Mark show chemistry

GMA 7 introduces a new combination in the tandem of Heart Evangelista and Mark Herras who play the lead roles in the new teleserye titled “Langit Sa Piling Mo,” which starts airing Monday, May 31, at the GMA Telebabad block.

This is the first time that Heart and Mark are doing a TV series together as a loveteam. But this early, it looks like sparks are flying if we are to believe a news item that said that Mark walked out of the set of “Langit Sa Piling Mo” because of Heart.

At the recent presscon for the new series, Mark, however, denied having walked out. He said he had gone home to Commonwealth in Quezon City from the set location in Subic, when he received word that he had to return because he still had to shoot additional scenes. It took him two hours to get home, but it would take him two hours more to be back at Subic, and so he reckoned that the taping would be over by that time he would arrive. Thus, he decided not to go back.

“It was just a case of misunderstanding. Hindi naman nila ako pinaghintay nang matagal sa taping tapos hindi rin nila ako nasabihan na wag muna umalis kasi may kukunan pang eksena. Pero wala naman kaming problema ni Heart kasi hindi naman siya ang may kasalanan sa nangyari,” explained Mark.

Seeing the photos of Mark and Heart, as well as the trailer of “Langit Sa Piling Mo,” the press people noted the undeniable chemistry of the two. Chances are this new teamup would make “Langit Sa Piling Mo” soar in the ratings, with the story of the series centering on the world of people working in airlines. In fact, the series has tapped a consultant from the Civil Aeronautics Board who guides them on how to go about in presenting the world of flight attendants and pilots in this series directed by Gil Tejada, Jr., and from the script of Senedy Que who, in real life, is a flight attendant.

Rima Ostwani is known as the girlfriend of actor Diether Ocampo. Yet, she is more than that. By profession, she is a personal shopper in a popular lifestyle hub.

Her dad is a Syrian, while her mom is of Spanish-German descent. The name Rima is common in the Middle East which means “the eyes of the deer.” She grew up in Lebanon, spending at least 10 years of her childhood there. She came back to the Philippines when she was in high school.

She knows five languages: Filipino, English, Spanish, French and Arabic. “I was schooled formally in Arabic and French. We speak English at home. While I learned Spanish informally from my mom,” said Rima.

When you talk to Rima, you can’t help but mention Diet and their relationship. “When I first met him, the first thing he told me was he has a foundation for the youth. That’s when I realized he wasn’t just an actor. He had me when he told me he has this social cause,” related Rima, adding that since she’s fond of kids, the words “children’s foundation” worked like magic to her.

Their relationship has now been on for more than a year, but they haven’t talked about marriage or settling down yet.

Now that she’s in showbiz, Rima expressed interest to be a TV host. She wants to host a lifestyle show because she has a background in retail. She loves to talk and was, in fact, a member of the debate team in high school and the student council. “I can discuss anything under the sun. I can gel with any group. To me everybody deserves to be spoken with. I have a very cheery personality and I am very friendly. Hindi ako maarte. I may be makikay but I can be very cowboy too.”

Given the chance, she’s also open to doing commercial endorsements. She had done modeling stints when she was in high school and college, while she was busy with extracurricular activities that have socio-political inclinations. But she has no plans of becoming an actress.

“I don’t think I’m fit to be an actress. Acting is for a certain kind of people.”
