Marian Rivera’s grammatical gaffe has become a big thing in the social media. While on the campaign trail for presidential candidate Noynoy Aquino, the sultry actress defended him from critics who were casting doubt about his mental health. Marian said she believes Noynoy is fit to lead the nation because “I’m a psychology.” She must have meant she was a psychology major.
That drew a stream of reactions from the online community. One branded Marian as “the long-lost daughter of Melanie Marquez,” another actress known for mangling the English language. Another came to Marian’s defense. Marian “is a superstar so many people are jealous of her,” the blogger said.
Talking about Marian, her latest movie with boyfriend Dingdong Dantes, “You to Me Are Everything,” is said to be doing well during its first few days of screening. The romance-comedy is about an Igorot lass who was left a huge fortune by her father whom she has never known. The girl, played by Marian, is a daughter out of wedlock.
Marian, however, feels lost in the big city, while her stepsisters scheme to disinherit her. She hires Dingdong, who has become an outcast in his circle of rich friends after his father-politician is jailed for plunder, as a business manager. Dingdong, however, thinks he could fleece the naïve Marian into lending him several millions so he could regain his old life.
What Dingdong didn’t anticipate was falling in love with his boss. A relationship blossoms but soon the kindhearted Marian decides she is not comfortable with all that money and returns her inheritance (!) She returns to her village in Bontoc, but Dingdong is reluctant to embrace the way of the mountain folk.
Will the lovebirds keep their nest? You know in the end they will, but how they resolve their differences is what makes “You to Me Are Everything” worth watching.

Willie Revillame has gone on indefinite leave from “Wowowee” days after he threatened to quit the show if the management of ABS-CBN did not fire showbiz writer and TV co-host Jobert Sucaldito.
Revillame said he needed to rest, but some observers could not help think that he was just sulking. As of late last week, Jobert was still hosting his afternoon show on DZMM. There was no indication that he was going to be “evicted.”
Revillame had raved at Sucaldito for frowning at the selection of students with barely passing grades to participate in one of “Wowowee’s” contests. Willie demanded that ABS-CBN management sanction Sucaldito.
The radio host said he is not afraid of Revillame. “It’s sad that such a petty issue has escalated. I’m just a pawn, he’s a king. I don’t have a chance. But life must go on. God is with me and I'm overwhelmed by the appreciation of the world,” Sucaldito said.
He explained that he never criticized Willie on a personal level. “It’s the concept that I didn’t like. If he was misinformed, it’s not my problem.”
The word is that the network executives have talked with the two talents to try to patch up things. Meanwhile, “Wowowee” mainstays Pokwang and Mariel Rodriguez are trying to hold the fort while Revillame is away.
I wonder how ABS-CBN would treat Willie’s challenge. Few talents have the gall to dictate to their bosses how to run things. But Revillame is not an ordinary talent. Does that mean he deserves special treatment?

Ogie Alcasid admitted that he got quite a scare after Regine Velasquez fainted during the taping of GMA-7’s latest offering, “Diva.”
Many ascribed Regine’s fainting to the fact that she’s pregnant. But that has not been medically established yet.
“I really got scared. You know Regine. When she works, she’s really focused and hardly eats,” Ogie said when he dropped by the press conference of senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros last week. “But I’m glad she’s okay now.”
