Chris Evans as tech whiz jensen in 'the losers'

-

CEBU, Philippines - Playing the Human Torch in the “Fantastic Four” films catapulted him to stardom. Now Chris Evans stars in another motion picture based on a graphic novel as he portrays the gadget and computer expert Jensen in Warner Bros.’ action-adventure “The Losers.”

An explosive action tale of betrayal and revenge, “The Losers” centers around the members of an elite Special Forces unit sent to the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. But the team soon find that they have become the target of a deadly double cross, instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Now presumed dead, the group makes plans to avenge themselves and clear their names.

Evans says his attraction to the project transcends its comic book roots. “The attraction to this film was precisely working with producers like Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, and with a director like Sylvain White, who is so supportive,” says the actor. “This is his first action film, which is tricky and has a lot of pieces to the puzzle, but he knows how to manage that full plate he has on the table very well.”

He adds, “This film is more in the vein of the `Lethal Weapon’ and `Die Hard’ films that Joel Silver produced and that, in my opinion, still hold up to this day because they were infused with comedic chemistry.”

Evans describes Jensen as “a hacker and a computer nerd, but also the kind of guy who loves life. In the family dynamic of the group, Jensen is kind of the kid of the family. He's a little juvenile and immature, gets into mischief and cracks jokes at inappropriate times. I hope he comes off as likeable.”

“The Losers” also stars Jeffery Dean Morgan (“Watchmen”) as Clay; Zoe Saldana (“Avatar,” “Star Trek”) as Aisha; Idris Elba (“Obsessed”) as Roque; Columbus Short (“Quarantine”) as Pooch; Oscar Jaeneda (“Che: Part Two”) as Cougar; and Jason Patric (“My Sister’s Keeper”) as Max.

Chris Evans began his acting career in typical fashion, but it was his rapid rise to stardom which was unusual. Bitten by the acting bug in the first grade, Evans started out appearing in school plays and theater camp; from there it was a quick jump to local community theater, and later, an internship for a casting office. Once Evans made friends with a few agents on the job, it was a straight shot to television and blockbuster features.

One of the more talented of the fair-haired, pretty-boy actors to emerge in the early years of the new millennium, Evans scored with roles in a succession of high-profile releases. His most famous part, however, came in 2005 when he was tapped to play the role of the Human Torch in director Tim Story’s adaptation of the Marvel Comics classic “The Fantastic Four” and its subsequent sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007).

Opening soon across the Philippines, “The Losers” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
