American Idol's Jason Castro Live at The Terraces

It’s not “falling in love again” with Jason René Castro. It’s falling in love “over and over again and again and again” despite his January 2 marriage to long-time sweetheart Mandy Mayhall. Who cares? 

Being a Castrophilic — (or is it Castromaniac? Castrocopiac?) — since day one of the American Idol Season 7, it pains me to learn of the ramblings of other “original fans” that they are somewhat disappointed with the contents of Jason’s extended play album.

They expected to watch more of that laid-back and quirky style that Jason showed both on AI and then on his date-night videos.

“I wish his marketing crew would just let him be himself. He's obviously been coached, was reading a script, and honestly sounded like an infomercial instead of the Jason we all fell in love with. It broke my heart a little bit,” says Kari in a post on the Jason Castro official website two days ago. 

Nevertheless, if you’ve been immensely hooked on the Castrocopia thingy, then let’s volt in as we don on the “Love Uncompromised” spirit come March 20 at the Ayala Center Cebu for the “Jason Castro Fall in Love Again!” tour brought to us by Warner Music Philippines and the Ayala Malls.

Together, let’s recollect that achievement of this natty-fatty-head the very night he carved a mark on the 7th edition of AI by becoming the very first hopeful among Top 24 to play a guitar onstage, as well as to play a ukulele for the first time after a week’s practice. 

It is expected that he would treat us to a repertoire of his most moving songs, including a newer reggae version of “Shine Your Light” said to be the kind of song that the world needs the most with its non-preachy message. Of course, we would be there to coo him in giving us our serving of “Tell Me So” and the rest of the items from his deluxe album: "Let’s Just Fall in Love Again," "This Heart of Mine," "Heart of Stone," "If I Were You," and "You Can Always Come Home." Definitely, the lineup would live up to his other song “That’s What I’m Here For!” 

We definitely look forward to that!

But back to the ramblings: there are those who mentioned of wanting new songs from Jason. I vote for fresh materials as well. I have been developing this aversion to revivals. And also away from marketing tactics that make fans “jump through hoops” just to order online his digital singles. I would share in the observation that Jason Castro deserves to succeed. After all, what matters after the party’s over is an artist’s longevity in the music industry. He should go a long, long way and reach more people.

The concert this Saturday is at The Terraces at 8:30 p.m.

Jason's mall tour would perhaps also include some other songs he did early on in his career – "Matter of Time," "Wait," "Changing Colors," "Someday," and "Tonight."

I’m beginning to be as anxious as any Castrophilic (Castrocopiac?) to hear much from this 22-year-old dreadhead from Rockwall, Texas.
