Mystery surrounding Hayden Kho's hospital confinement

CEBU, Philippines - Intestinal flu or attempted suicide? Questions are swirling behind the reason why Hayden Kho, the controversial celebrity doctor whose medical license was recently revoked due to a sex video scandal, is currently being confined in a Manila hospital.

Kho's lawyer Lorna Kapunan sent the media a statement confirming that her client is now confined at the Manila Doctors in UN Avenue: "Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr. was admitted to this hospital very early this morning [December 4]. He was running a very high fever and was throwing up with severe abdominal pains. Initial impression is that he is suffering from intestinal flu, although stress-induced gastric ulcer is also being considered. The Kho family is requesting for privacy. No visitors are allowed at this time. He was admitted under the care of his father, Dr. Hayden Kho."

But witnesses' accounts seemed to dispute the statement, in an interview with a certain Rudy and Andrew Olivar of Silang, Cavite over GMA 7's entertainment news program "Showbiz Central" yesterday. The father and son said that on the night of December 3, they heard moans from a nearby pineapple plantation. When they proceeded to the area, they discovered a young man, seemingly out of himself, distraught, crying, and sprawled on the ground. According to the Olivars, they saw that the man's arm had an injection, and that it still had blood gushing out of it. The Olivars finally recognized him when he eventually identified himself that he was "Doc Hayden."

The Olivars also said that the man's cellphone didn't stop ringing and that "Doc Hayden" will answer each call with statements like "Huwag niyo na ako hanapin (Don't look for me)" and "Mahal na mahal kita Vicks." Vicks could possibly refer to the famous beauty doctor Dr. Vicky Belo, who is rumored to have remained as the controversial doctor's girlfriend. 

The man also repeatedly refused help from the Olivars, saying in Tagalog that he has said goodbye to God, and that nobody loves him, but the witnesses said that there was nothing "Doc Hayden" could do because he was already too weak to fend them off.

The man was brought to Estrella Hospital in Silang, Cavite, then to the De La Salle University Hospital, before being admitted to the Manila Doctors Hospital. Kho's father, Dr. Hayden Kho Sr., is a resident doctor at Manila Doctors. The Olivars also reported the incident to the police.

Should these accounts be confirmed by Kho's camp as true, then this is not the first time Kho was reported to have committed suicide. When the sex video scandal involving him and some starlets broke out in the internet and the media early this year, the doctor also reportedly attempted to end his life.
