Ms. Olive-C Bacolod is MassKara Queen '09

CEBU, Philippines - Ten equally beautiful and talented beauties vied for Bacolod City’s 30th MassKara Queen in a prestigious pageant held at the jam-packed University of St. La Salle Coliseum, October 15.

Presented by ABS-CBN Bacolod and Silver MassKara Festival Organization, the 2009 MQ search had Gawad Urian Lifetime Achievement awardee, Director Peque Gallaga, also a Negrense, as chairman of the board of judges.

The ladies were carefully screened and selected for their wit, charisma, beauty, and confidence that embody the personality of a true Bacoleña.

Major sponsor Psalmstre Enterprises Incorporated selected two ladies earlier in the competition who were the most deserving to represent the most reputable product lines of the company, namely, New Placenta and Olive-C beauty-care collections.

Eighteen-year-old Annhela Montilla of the Visayan Maritime Academy Global College was named Ms. New Placenta, while early crowd-favorite and 19-year-old Maria Aika Uy of the Riverside Medical College emerged as Ms. Olive-C Bacolod.

Aside from winning Ms. Olive-C Bacolod, the graduating nursing student also outclassed the rest of the finalists as she grabbed the most-coveted crown of MassKara Queen 2009. Uy’s court included 19-year-old Christine Daphne Villanueva of USLS, first runner-up, and Romelie Laura, 19, of ABE International Business College as second runner-up. 

Uy will represent Bacolod in the Mr. & Ms. Olive-C Campus Model Philippines 2010 in Manila next year. This beauty pageant, which aims to give the rightful lady and gentleman the chance to become the next Olive-C endorsers, is organized by Psalmstre Enterprises Incorporated and its media relations arm Creworks Asia. The former, headed by president and chief executive officer Jim Acosta, also manufactures Glutamin, one of the country’s most-trusted glutathione-Kojic soap in one.

Besides Uy, 11 other ladies and 12 hunks from the different parts of the Philippines will gather in the country’s capital city to compete in this new and exciting search.
