"Halad Kapamilya" now a TV program
CEBU, Philippines - Halad Kapamilya, the cornerstone of ABS-CBN Central Visayas’ commitment to public service, is now a television show with the purpose of involving more people to help more people.
Beginning today, August 8, at 7am, the 30-minute show Halad Kapamilya, hosted by tri-media journalist Leo Lastimosa, will start your mornings on the Kapamilya network.
According to its executive producer, ABS-CBN Central Visayas senior reporter Rico Lucena, Halad Kapamilya is a public service project pioneered by ABS-CBN Cebu, but is now being replicated in other regional stations of the network.
Halad Kapamilya has four major segments, namely; Halad sa Panarbaho, which will feature job openings and opportunities here and abroad; Halad sa Barangay, which will bring outreach programs and the like to benefit barangays; Halad ni Dok, which will offer free medical assistance; and Tabang Patrol, the segment that will enjoin government agencies, private companies and individuals to pool in resources for communities that need help.
“The show aims to help the last, the least, and the lost,” Lastimosa said, adding that they decided to make it into show after receiving increasing requests for assistance. The program also aims to provide quick solutions to illegal recruitment, garbage collection, family issues, and labor-related problems.
For three years now, ABS-CBN Central Visayas has had successful, twice-a-year Halad Kapamilya, spending half a million for every project mounted. With the project now crossing over to the TV screens, Lastimosa hopes that they will be able to tap more people in extending their help and generosity.
The pilot episode will air live in Elizabeth Mall, wherein a blood-letting activity will also be held. Manila’s Bernadette Sembrano of the “Hulog ng Langit” segment of TV Patrol World will be today’s guest host. (Sanden J. Anadia)
